Question Will my RM750 CPU cable work with my motherboard?

Hi, folks,

I've recently bought an Asus Crosshair VIII Hero and its power plug is as follows:

But the PSU cable is a 4+4pin:

They do fit, but I'm concerned about burning the motherboard.

Can you folks help me out?

Big thanks!!!

The EPS power cables are standard 4+4 to make an 8pin CPU power there is nothing wrong and so long as you are using the cable that came with the PSU and connecting the cable correctly there is nothing to fear.

Thanks, @Corsair Notepad!

Even the shapes being different shouldn't I be concerned? The squares and rounded pins?

I'm using the CPU cable that came with the RM750, and my concern regards its shape that is slightly different from the CPU plug on the motherboard - I've added the photos to illustrate it.

Thanks once again!

Yes, it will work just fine. Its a modern board, with a modern power supply. The difference in plug shape has no bearing on it, the contacts within the plug itself are the same. As long as you plug it in the right way round it'll fit just fine, as the rounded parts on the cable fit into the squared parts on the board's plug. :)

Thanks, @Dayglorange! I've tried it yesterday and it worked. I confirmed that my previous Asus board had the same plug and it also worked with the RM750. So everything's fine! Thanks once again!
