gutter
I have a strange issue that I'm looking for some feedback on... I bought the CMD32GX4M4A2666C15 kit, which is on the ASUS QVC list for the Sabertooth Z170. Everything runs fine with stock memory timings, but when I enable XMP Profile #1 the system won't POST with all 4 DIMMs. I also tried setting the timings manually and it won't POST. When I install only 2 DIMMs (in any configuration) it *will* POST with XMP Profile #1. Here's where it gets strange:  If I follow the steps below, I'm able to POST with all 4 DIMMs with the XMP profile enabled: - Install a pair of DIMMs - POST - Power off - Install the other pair of DIMMs - POST - Success! So right now I'm up and running with all 4 DIMMs using the XMP profile, but I'm a little troubled that I had to jump through hoops to get it running. I'm running Prime95 now to check stability. Is this some weird UEFI bug/quirk, or could the memory be bad? I know a lot of motherboard manufacturers are still working out kinks with the Z170 UEFI firmware. FEAR6655
Update to the latest BIOS. You might also need to up the VCCIO and SA voltages to get four DIMMs booting reliably. Anything over 2133MT/s is technically overclocking the CPU and DRAM so voltage tweaks can be necessary. Stay at or below 1.2v for VCCIO and SA. platonicshroom
There's an issue going on concerning Z170 chipset, XMP and corsair ram modules. An official announcement will soon be posted in this thread: http://forum.corsair.com/v3/showthread.php?t=149795 I'd suggest keeping an eye on it.
