My guess is that depends on what the underlying issue is and if drivers can fix it.

@Ram Guy, it was the only mic. Not even a soundcard installed at the time.

Your tech support basically sent me a form email back, after i submitted a ticket explaining what was wrong. It said 'we've looked into this extensively, uh huh... I didnt even get a single email back, asking to check settings, etc. or troubleshoot. Just a 'please return your product' ... so, being a good consumer, i followed instruction and sent it back ;)

Here's to hoping my issue was physical. I doubt it was though, my money is on the returned headset doing the same thing.

It should be arriving at corsair tomorrow, or monday.

I have to say, if this is simply a software issue, i'm gonna be a little p/o'd about having to ship a product back that was a Christmas gift to me from my wife, when a note to the tech support folks not to auto-RMA HS1's at this time would have prevented this.

We'll see!

I RMA'd mine to amazon yesterday. How they could not test properly in games is beyond me. Headset sounds great, mic is worthless.

Please don't flame me if this has already been reported/discussed as I am just trying to help. I just got the HS1 and had the same low audio on my mic. I have only tested this with skype's echo service and had positive results. Here is what i did:
Win7
--> Recording devices in windows
--> Properties on the mic
--> Enhancements tab
--> Checked Low Frequency Protection
--> Checked Loudness Equalization
--> Click Apply

It was MUCH louder for me after that.

This fixed my issue of people not being able to hear me, saying my mic sounded like crap. After people said I was crystal clear. I spent weeks with this issue, been watching these forums waiting for a fix, and finally you delivered!

People would say my mic was garbled and they could barely hear me, only heard static, or it was muffled. After changing those two things it worked fine. I had the issue in all source games + mods that I tried it in, Battlefield 2, Bad Company 2, and ventrilo. And when I would test the mic in any of those programs, it would always sound perfect to me. Now it sounds perfect to everyone!

^ If that is the problem, then Windows XP does not have those options. So we need a driver fix either way.

Hrm, I think i tried one of those options, before I RMA'd my headset. I'm wonderin if that would have fixed it? Ah well, corsair should be sending another set back soon. We'll see.

Well I can assure you it still sounds trash in source games all my friends say the mic is terrible I have recorded the mic in sound forge using different settings, I have tried all other systems xp, vista. This is not a guaranteed fix, it is a driver fix that is needed because it is not just a windows 7 issue. People are still waiting for a fix.
