Corsair H75 for Alienware Aurora R8 install

Hi

I have read that the Corsair H75 is a good unit for the Alienware Aurora R8.

It seems that a lot of people use only one fan from the H75 on the radiator and then use the 2nd fan to replace the front fan the Alienware unit comes with.

Does the radiator need both fans and is it a good idea to do it using one on the radiator and one to replace the fan from the unit?

It does not need both fans to function. Using two fans in tandem can help overcome weaker fans or get you the same level of cooling at slightly lower fan speeds. This is more evident at the low end of fan RPM and less relevant at high speed. Any fan you can control can be used, although in terms of radiator efficiency those with a few number of wide, flat blades are more effective vs a 9-11 thin blades with a steep rake.

You might be paying for that extra fan in the H75. The H60 (2018) is also going to be a competitive product.

As far actual fit goes, I can't offer much from here. The Alienware (Dell) set-ups often have proprietary parts, screws, or just weird stuff in weird placed. Both radiators have their holes in the same 4 corners and each fans. That part is standard, so the fit issues tend to be on the AW side and that requires first hand knowledge.
