[Build/mod] Abirli's "Perfectly Pink" One for the Mrs! (prodigy, polished, sleeve)

Recommended Posts

Well its spring time    and love is in the air, so what better way to express my love for my fiance than to build her her very own gaming rig! I hit the CL pages and found a sweet deal on a already built pc, ofc I didn't want to just have it plug and play, so i used it for donor parts. I'm sure i can make it all work nicely together and deliver a totally cool rig!

Overall goal of this build is to make an tastefully pink rig that stays true to my attention to detail and have a clean elegant look to it. It is also inspired by a certain feline character :p

Parts List:

Bitfenix Prodigy

Intel 4670k

ASRock z87E-ITX

16 Gb Ram

1tb Hdd

Nvidia 660ti

Corsair ax760

h2o Parts:

240 cross flow rad

ddc pump

ek pump top

EK Supremacy

EK 670 Block

Rigid tubing

Now its time for some photos!

To start this is who the rig is for, my lovely fiance

http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/2029889/

daww

now as i mentioned, i got almost all the parts as a donor pc. it came in a Evga Hadron, which is a really cool case in itself. i recommend it, very solid feel to it, although it is very tight to work in.

heres how i bought it

http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/2029890/

i have since sold the case. figured i'd keep the air coolor ( Coolermaster Hyper n520) for testing purposes

But for this build we chose the Bitfenix Prodigy. I've seen a lot of builds use this case and i thought it was a good choice for my fiance and she approved.

lets start with some shots of the case!

low lite

http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/2029891/

We've all seen the case before. So first thing i did was start removing all the panels and drive bays. I like to start with a blank canvas if you will.

http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/2029894/

Wanted to take the badge off the front to make the face cleaner.

http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/2029895/

next step was to install the mobo

For this build we are going with the ASRock z87e-itx. I think its plenty for her and it also was part of that donor rig, so cant complain!

http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/2029896/

some sweet detail shots playing with my new dslr

http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/2029899/

http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/2029900/

As i said, it came with a cooler on it so i had to take all the TIM off it.

http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/2029901/

all clean

Episode #1 The Parts

Photos of some of the parts!

Picked up a brand new Corsair AX760 on **** for $100 cant beat that! still has the stickers on it and everything

http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/2031819/

next up is the Nvidia 660ti. Big cooler, Small Card

http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/2031820/

http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/2031821/

pretty cool shot

http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/2031822/

Now its time for the Ram. This is some "SP" Ram clocked at 2400mhz, not my first choice but it came with the deal. I dont think the green will fit this build to well, so we'll just have to fix that later!

http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/2031823/

http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/2031824/

I almost always use EK water blocks in my builds, i've used them for years and never had any problems :thumb:

Heres the Supremacy

http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/2031825/

Gpu block, going ot have to polish this to match

http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/2031826/

and ofc the x-res. cant wait to see it filled up with some perfect pink coolant!

http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/2031827/

Stay tuned for the next episode- "Water Block installation and Paint Preping"

Episode 2: Water block install and Paint Prep

Alright now that all the parts are here (minus fittings, tube, and coolant) its time to start doing some stuff!

so first lets look at what we're actually going to paint.

We've got some ugly green ram that doesnt fit the build at all

http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/2033442/

yuck. so we mask up the pcb area and put it in the one off paint booth

http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/2033443/

after a little bit of time they are ready for paint!

http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/2033444/

http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/2033445/

http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/2033446/

next i chose to paint the back plate of the front panel.

before it was black

http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/2033447/

http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/2033448/

now its silky smooth primed

http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/2033449/

http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/2033450/

http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/2033451/

while the paint was drying, figured it would be a great time to install the EK blocks.

every time i build i always wear nitrile gloves

http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/2033452/

first up the ek supremacy

http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/2033453/

install mounts / block

http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/2033454/

http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/2033455/

looks good

http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/2033456/

GPU Turn

http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/2033457/

remove cooler

http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/2033458/

install block

http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/2033459/

http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/2033460/

Thinking i'm going to polish the gpu block. thoughts?

heres a little teaser shot of the front panel.

the ram is testing my "no compromise" mindset, going to have to strip all the paint down and start a new.

Alright Update time. I put in a lot of hours over the weekend, up till 4 am friday night and about 7 more hours on saturday.

first lets start with the new 24 pin, I chose to redo the original one as it didnt look good. so what i did was make an extension for it. i shortend the oem psu cables to 3" and make the 6" extension.

http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/2059356/

http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/2059357/

heres the 8 pin eps

http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/2059358/

http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/2059359/

together <3

http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/2059360/

the Ram was also painted to match the rest of the pink! we painted the out lines white for a little accent.

http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/2059361/

http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/2059362/

Next up i wanted to make a shield to hide the i/p and provide a place to mount the hdd.

so i took my aluminum, taped it up , scored it

http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/2059363/

http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/2059364/

bent it

http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/2059365/

test fit looks nice!

http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/2059366/

back side

http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/2059367/

notched a hole in it for the fan cables

http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/2059368/

Fans are painted and sleeved

http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/2059369/

http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/2059370/

also painted the res top!

http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/2059371/

now it was time to start bending some tube!

Here is the gpu out to cpu in tube

http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/2059372/

another angle

http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/2059373/

here you can see the 24p installed,

http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/2059374/

So i wanted to show the top of the case some love.

so i cut the top radiator supports off, as i wont be using them

so mask up the area and bust out the dremel!

http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/2068098/

next up was to sand down the cuts to make them smooth but my trusty dremel became less trusty and stripped the locking gear =/ so now its stuck on cutting disc only.

so after 2.5hrs of hand filing the top of the case looked like this!

http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/2068099/

http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/2068100/

http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/2068101/

http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/2068102/

cut and install plexi!

http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/2068103/

http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/2068104/

http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/2068105/

Finally finished the power supply! after stripping it down and repainting it twice i'm happy with the way it turned out. Also made some custom stickers for the sides for a little extra sum sum

http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/2072890/

http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/2072891/

http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/2072893/

http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/2072894/

here it is installed

http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/2072895/

Hdd mounting, It too got the white coat treatment

http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/2072896/

going to train these wires a little more but you get the gist

http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/2072897/

Next up is the Fill port

placed it to see where to put it

http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/2072898/

mask. step bit . profit

http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/2072899/

http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/2072900/

installed and looking pretty

http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/2072901/

also had time to mix up the coolant. pretty happy with the results, hard to photograph but it matches better in person

Update

One of the fan wires ripped out so i had to order and repaint/sleeve it. had to repaint the res top again bc the fitting chipped it.

decided to put some led's in the case. i had some left over from my 900d build,

http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/2078395/

http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/2078396/

cut to size, and wire measured

http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/2078397/

Sleeved it up and turned it on, This white isnt going to do, too much on the blue spectrum.

http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/2078398/

in the mean time though i'd test out my hub

http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/2078399/

yep all in working order now

just a cool photo of the exhaust fan installed

http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/2078400/

got some proper white Leds

http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/2081395/

these are a natural white about 4000k.

http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/2081396/

but man do they light up the case!

http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/2081397/

http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/2081398/

I bent the Rad -> gpu tube, but it was late and didnt snap any photos.

I have new white heat shrink coming, to re do the fan heatshrinks, white p-clips to keep the gpu wires where i need them, ram stickers are going to be reprinted today too!

thats the easy stuff, i have one more pipe i've been waiting to do, the cpu -> pump, there will be 3 90 degree bends in it so i've got to make it perfect!

i decided to finish the Ram sticks. the sticker for the psu turned out so well that i wanted to implement it in more places.

illuminated with a flash light lol

http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/2090375/

http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/2090376/

http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/2090377/

installed

http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/2090378/

pretty much all that was left to do was bend the gpu to rad tube and cpu out to pump in. after a few tries and attempts i got the gpu tube looking like this

http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/2099021/

http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/2099022/

now the cpu return

http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/2099023/

http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/2099024/

http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/2099025/

installed gpu cables

http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/2099026/

http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/2099027/

http://www.overclock.net/content/type/61/id/2099028/

nothing left to do but fill and Rock On!!

stay tuned for final update!
