Swapping out fans on H150i RGB PRO XT AIO

Hi everyone - on my first build and hoping for some help from people experienced with Corsair AIOs and fans.

I want the H100i RGB PLATINUM SE for the LL fans, but I have a black case and internals, not doing the white theme. Irritating that they don't make an LL AIO in black.

So my question is - can I buy the H150i, buy three LL120s, and swap out the fans on the AIO?

TIA

Hi buddy.. yes you can change the fans on the h150i XT.. but it has no way to power or control the RGB of the Fans you add... you would be needing either,.. Commander Pro and RGB Fan LED Hub or Lighting Node Pro and RGB Fan LED Hub or a Lighting Node Core...

lots more info below...

The main issue is WHEN you will be able to pick up a H150i PRO XT... it's been announced months ago and never appear in stock.

And I don't think the actual world situation will help in the next future.

I'm new here but you're the RGB hero I keep seeing around this forum! Thanks for all your awesome guides.

Had a question about your photos - based on the fact those are QLs, are you pulling air through your rad, with those as the only fans and on the inside of the rad? Or do you have two more on the other side helping with airflow? I've been trying to figure out with these Corsair AIO coolers if you want fans, rad, case, or rad, fans, case.

P.s. this is for my 500D RGB SE, which is supposed to arrive on Monday! A few days after my hopeless post that you responded to, MicroCenter had it available for shipping for a very brief window. Wasn't cheap but I managed to snag one.

Edit: I just realized that's not a rad on top of your case, I thought it was, sorry. So in my scenario, should I just replace the fans on the AIO cooler 1:1, or do I need to push/pull them for adequate power?

I didn't understand what was happening in the photo

Also, I assume the same goes for the H100i RGB PLATINUM SE. I could buy that then replace the fans with the LL140 blacks?

I'll just need to plug them into the commander pro, which comes with my case, then make sure to set the fan curve in iCue?

Thanks again -

Yes, you can swap in LL120 in black or any other PWM fan. The onboard lighting controller for the Platinum should work for LL (if you have the SE) or they can go into your existing EGB Lighting Hubs if you have other RGB fans.

I would connected the fan speed control PWM wires to the Platinum's splitter. It is the native control source and gives you iCUE software control already. No reason to burn Commander Pro headers to do the same thing while offering full time control.

**Wait, what cooler are we onto now? The H100i Platinum SE (240mm - 120x2) or H115i Platinum SE (280mm 140x2)?

if you can source a PWM Repeater hub such as the one linked below you can then control all 6 fans with the H150i if you was to go Push/pull..

Note... this would require 4 internal 9pin USB headers,,, if you was to replace the Lighting Node Core's with RGB Fan LED hubs you would gain 2 USB headers back....

Zotty - another random question for you. In your RGB and iCue ecosystem guide, you say about the RGB Fan LED Hub: "When bought on it's own you don't get the RGB 3 Pin (twin cable) data connection cable with it for connection to CoPro or NoPro."

1. Does the 500D RGB SE always come with one of those hubs in addition to the CoPro? I ordered mine from Microcenter.

2. If not, and I buy a hub, where can I buy the separate connection cable?

Thanks!

Afaik you get the cables needed with the 500d accessory pack for its supplied Commander Pro

Yes, you should get the connecting cable you need, I did with mine.

Your unknown will be "Where in the case did they mount your CoPro and Hub?"

I don't think I've seen 2 people with the same answer, it must be a fun game the case assemblers play when they package each case :-)

In my case a quick wave with a heat gun and they popped right off so I could relocate them.

Oh damn - they come already mounted in your case? How are they mounted? Can you just pry them off if you don't have a heat gun?

Why don't they just include them in the packaging...

That's the $64,000 question - Why don't they just pop them in a box? Everybody I have seen on here has commented that they come pre-attached, and they did for me too. If you don't have a heat gun, but have access to a hair dryer, that might work. You could also try slowly heating the other side of the tray - depending on where they were mounted, for me it was on the back side of the mobo tray I think, some have reported they were mounted on the floor of the case too I think. It does seem to be random though - quite possibly yours may not be attached, I can't say for sure.
