Nic96
Hello, I have a DELL Inspiron 15 7000 Gaming (7577). I would like to replace the small 16 GB RAM with one of your Corsair Vengeance 64GB (2x32GB) SO-DIMM DDR4 2400 MHz (CMSX64GX4M2A2400C16). Before placing the order on your website I would like to make sure that this RAM is compatible. Unfortunately I can't find a compatibility list on the DELL website, can you tell me if these are compatible? Thanks so much. On the DELL official website, the configuration of my model (which can be confirmed by the photo attached to the purchase receipt) is as follows: - 7th Gen Intel® Core ™ i7-7700HQ Quad Core Processor (6M Cache, up to 3.80 GHz) - NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 1060 with NVIDIA® Max Q Design technology, 6GB GDDR5 - 4GB - 16GB, DDR4, 2400MHz; up to 32GB In the computer's "System information" the following specifications are confirmed: - Motherboard Dell Inc. 0J8HMF (U3E1) - Intel Core i7 7700HQ @ 2.80GHz Kaby Lake 14nm Technology processor (I hope here we mean the base frequency, and on the online site the maximum one) - RAM 16,0GB Single-Channel Unknown @ 1196MHz (17-17-17-39) (I disassembled the pc, I attach photos of the RAM). I also tried to look for the technical specifications on the official Intel website, identifying this as a memory model (https://www.intel.it/content/www/it/it/products/processors/core/i7-processors/i7- 7700hq.html), and in the processor datasheet the features should be compatible with the Corsair RAM ordered. " Thanks a lot again, I hope you will help me. I need to change the RAM memory as soon as possible. Thank you very much.
Administrators Technobeard Posted September 5, 2020 Administrators Share Posted September 5, 2020 Your manual says it can take a max of 2x16GB modules. This memory isn't compatible. https://topics-cdn.dell.com/pdf/inspiron-15-7577-laptop_setup-guide_en-us.pdf
Nic96
Thanks Technobeard. On the internet I have read that some DELLs with up to 32GB still managed to support up to 64GB total, is there any chance it works anyway then? In case I decide to increase the RAM only up to 32 GB, could you tell me if these two RAMs are compatible? CMSX32GX4M2A2400C16 In the RAM compatibility list, DELL recommends Crucials like this one for upgrading, it's just a marketing fact or really only supports this one, and not for example the high performance memories for Gaming like the ones I mentioned above? Thanks again guys. Edited September 7, 2020 by Technobeard
Administrators Technobeard Posted September 7, 2020 Administrators Share Posted September 7, 2020 I'd stick with whatever Dell recommends in regards to size limitations. CMSX32GX4M2A2400C16 meets the requirements so it should be fine. Doesn't look like that laptop is in our memory finder however.
Nic96
So the only thing I can do is order the RAM through someone who allows free returns in case of incompatibility? If I still want to try a high performance gaming RAM for rendering with the CPU rendering engine (Corona) which one can you recommend out of these two? (Is Hyper Impact better with lower latency value (CL14 vs CL16)? - Corsair Vengeance 32GB (2x16GB) DDR4 SODIMM 2400MHz CL16 CMSX32GX4M2A2400C16 (https://www.corsair.com/it/it/Categorie/Prodotti/Memoria/Kit-di-memoria-CL16-2400-MHz-SO-DIMM-DDR4-da-32-GB-%282-x-16-GB%29-Vengeance%C2%AE-Series/p/CMSX32GX4M2A2400C16#tab-tech-specs) Moreover there are really important differences from the performance point of view between a high performance RAM (Hyper and Corsair) and a simple Crucial RAM like this one recommended by DELL as compatible with Insipiron 15 Gaming 7577? Administrators Technobeard Posted September 8, 2020 Administrators Share Posted September 8, 2020 It's up to you. It's safe to say though that we'd recommend our memory over our competitors, but if Dell guarantees a specific model from anyone is compatible, go with that.
