Hmm, in my registry I have four folders under VID_1B1C&PID_0C04:
  • 5&76a7c5b&0&13
  • 5&76a7c5b&0&6
  • 5&76a7c5b&0&8
  • 6&209ecaa2&0&3

and you have only one:
  • 6&14c3300b&0&4

I wonder if this varies from machine to machine. If it does, then the .reg file that I uploaded will be useless to anybody but me. Can anybody else check to see what is listed in their registry?

I can confirm that this is the case. I just updated from Windows 8.1 preview to the final version and needed to reinstall the software and I had a single entry listed under VID_1B1C&PID_0C04 that was completely different than what I had before. The OP has been modified and the downloadable .zip file has been removed.

This registry fix does not work for me at all.
After I upgraded to Windows 8, I've lost all control through Corsair Link.

@Paul-Simon

The registry fix is for Windows 8.1.

It looks like the service for LINK isn't running. Click the Options tab and see if the service is running.

I meant Windows 8.1
anyhow, you're right. the service is not running, and when I click "restart" it stops automatically after 0.5 seconds.

Why is that?

That is the problem a lot of us are having right now. No answer from Corsair.

that answer should be quite obvious since its only released in a measure of minutes virtually.
their now working on things and its standard policy to refrain from releasing an ETA on a finished update.

this was just released by Corsair George: Corsair Link and Windows 8.1 UPDATE

In all fairness, the RTM has been available for a lot longer than that. It only now sounds like Corsair is just starting to look at their SW. Regardless, as long as the cooling system works without Corsairlink, which several people have confirmed as being the case, then I can wait. I just find it rather ridiculous that a major supplier of next gen hardware can't bother to put the same level of focus on their SW that they do their hardware.

You're assuming a lot about the development cycle without any evidence to back your hypothesis.

Same issue, also Speedfan now also crash on startup.
Damn between this and my Soundcard problem, I really wish I had never instaled this lousy 8.1 update.

There is plenty of evidence. The SW is not ready. I have no other component in my PC that is having problems with Windows 8.1 and several of my components and software had "8.1" driver upgrades many months ago: Creative, Nvidia, SnagIt, Norton Internet Security). If they could do it, I assume Corsair could.

the Corsair software is unlike any of the programs you mentioned and most others, most work WITH the OS and computer while the Corsair software HAS to monitor and TAKE control of the computers most vital functions,,many dont understand this concept ...

Corsair George has posted regarding the current status of the software.

You're making judgement calls on when development started and how much focus is being put into it. You have no evidence to support these hypotheses. If you'd like to continue posting hypotheses, go for it.

Once we have additional information to provide regarding an update to the Link software we will do so.

Believe me, I would love to actually have some FACTS here to either validate or invalidate my "hypotheses". Will you provide them? (or is 4 to 6 weeks the best I am going to get?).
