H100i only RED light, can't change.

Hello! I'm really frustrated at the moment, I bought a H100i that was slightly used but looked like new and I knew the guy whom I bought it from. So I knew there hadn't been a problem with it.

He bought it 2.5 years ago and used it for 2 months and put it away bacause he wanted an air cooler instead for some reason (not a very tech savvy guy)

I picked it up and everything is working fine, BUT!

The pumptop LED ONLY light up RED. Can't change it in any way, I really want it just white.

I tried download ing the newest Corsair Link, and even tried the old version of the program, still nothing.

The PC is brand new, W10 Pro, ASUS Z170i Pro Gaming, 6600k.

All help regarding this will be greatly appreciated!

I hope this was what you were looking for. :)

It should be White and given it's Red then the Green + Blue LEDs must have failed. I assume if you set red to zero it is totally off.

The Corsair warranty is not transferable so you will just have to live with this or get a new cooler.

I noticed CL4 did not report your HX1000i, is it connected to the H100i or a USB port? If not I would connect it to the H100i C-Link port, but don't connect it to both.

I really hope it's not dead.. though it seems like it.... and yes the light turn off when i do something else or just stick to red.

I did not plug in the USB for the HX1000i since the board doesn't have enough ports. So I just plugged in the USB from the cooler, since I don't need to configure anything with the PSU.

You could open it up and replace the Green + Blue LEDs otherwise just live with red. I recall several posts about cooler LEDs failing.

You don't need a USB for the HX1000i, you can connect it via the H100i C-Link port. It's the one next to the mini-USB.

Thanks for the quick replies man!

I even tried what was mentioned in this post right now and no luck. I guess you're right. They're dead as can be,

You got any guides on how to replace them?

And I was looking for quite some time to get the H100i because I have the 250D case and almost no other coolers fit in it. Could you possible name another cooler that Fits?

Really appreciate taking the time for this!

I guess you just unsolder the 4 pins and solder in a new LED, but I have no idea what the part # is or where to get a new one from.

I did find two videos, but nothing about just replacing the LED. I also found http://www.overclock.net/t/1528372/h80i-or-h100i-led-not-working-fix who has the same issue as you.

Thanks for all the help!

All this sounds like alot of hassle, so i'm not gonna bother too much about it.

Gonna find another used H100i and hopefully be in luck this time!

Or maybe find another cooler from Corsair thats the same width of the rad.

Personally, I wouldn't risk buying another used AIO cooler. Sometimes people will dump them on eBay and other sites after finding a blockage or some other annoying problem. If the cooler is at least performing to your needs (minus the LED), save up the cash and buy a new one with a warranty. It's your decision how you would like to spend your cash, but I highly recommend against buying another used AIO cooler.
