willkill
As the thread title suggests: How careful should I be running two HD140's as intakes on a Y-splitter? The motherboard doesn't advise what kind of voltage/power/etc (not an electrician, sorry!) is on a 4-pin fan header. The HD140's are operating voltage is between 7v and 13.2v Can I successfully make this work with a Y-splitter? If not, there are available fan headers to use, but trying to minimize wiring and attempt a rather nice looking cable managed case. Appreciate any feedback. red-ray
The Gigabyte X299 Gaming 9 has 6 fan headers (SYS_FAN1/2/3/4/5 + HPWR_FAN) so I would connect each fan to it's own header. As both the HD140 fans and headers are 4-pin PWM you should set PWM mode in the BIOS and the voltage will then be a constant +12 volts.
willkill
red-ray Thanks for the heads up, I note PWM Phase Control has a bunch of settings, such as eXm Perf (Extreme Performance), High Perf (High Performance), Perf (Performance), Balanced, Mid PWR (Mid Power); and Lite PWR (Light Power) There is "Smart Fan 5" in the BIOS too, so I'll check that out as well. Thanks mate, appreciate it.
