ghinshell
Hi there, I'm trying to RMA my GS500 power supply, but it isn't listed at all in the drop-down list on the RMA page. My power supply isn't even a year old, and it's failed. Starting to get annoyed with Corsair; my friend's CX600 failed after 3 months of use, and now mine. Please let me know how I can get this resolved. Thank you. Administrators Technobeard Posted January 16, 2013 Administrators Share Posted January 16, 2013 Select one of the other GS PSUs and then mention the GS500 in the notes. I've asked for it to be added to TSX.
ghinshell
Hey, I've sent in an RMA request as you suggested. Looking inside the PSU threw the fan vent I noticed this, I don't know if its normal, but it looks like some kind of paste or glue on one of the filtering coils. Is that normal? Not sure what to think of it. http://i.imgur.com/Q7wn2h.jpg?1 http://imgur.com/a/ulKNY
Administrators Technobeard Posted January 16, 2013 Administrators Share Posted January 16, 2013 Looks like it was applied, can't remember the name of the goop ATM, but it's probably the goop that's placed on capacitors to draw away heat and dampen vibrations. Corsair Employee RAM GUY Posted January 16, 2013 Corsair Employee Share Posted January 16, 2013 Yes and as long as the unit is working and there is no other problems it will be fine. I would bring this up with our Q.C. to see if they can be more careful when applying the thermal geese or glue.
