retrograd
Since the 3080/3090 launch i intend to get a card that need 3x8-pin. I have a RM850x White(pre-2018) that didn't have enough PCI-E cables for that so i need to buy a third one but i can't find the old type of cable anywhere in my country. But i can find : "Corsair Premium Individually Sleeved PCIe (Single Connector) Cables Type 4 Gen 4 – White" So the only questions i have : - Can i use this new cable with my current PSU ? (pre-2018 model) - Can i use this cable alongside older cables ? The compatiblity list tells me that it's okay, i think ? But i need to be sure before i blow my motherboard/PSU/GPU or everything in my tower. Thanks in advance
Corsair Employee jonnyguru Posted September 18, 2020 Corsair Employee Share Posted September 18, 2020 I have a RM850x White(pre-2018) that didn't have enough PCI-E cables How is that possible? The RM850x, black and white, came with three PCIe cables with two connectors on each. But to answer your question: Yes. You're reading the compatibility chart correctly. Your PSU can use either Type 3 or Type 4 PCIe cables.
