Question H80i Sloshing Sound

Hi Everyone,

I was so excited today that my local shop got the H80i stock, immediately went out to get one as I will be building a new rig soon. I unboxed the cooling unit just to get a good look at it, but I found that tilting or shaking the radiator would make a sloshing noise.

Is this normal behaviour? Is the loop supposed to be filled until there is no air inside?

It would be great if someone here informed me as to whether or not this is normal for these closed loop systems. It's my first intro to water cooling so I have no idea what to expect at this point.

Thanks!

it should have a little slosh as there is liquid inside so it depends on how much you hear, does your local dealer have more in stock to let you compare the noise you are hearing? that is what I would do too ease my mind.

I don't think they will let me open it :P they only have another 4 units in stock. Although I say it's "local" it's really an hour long bus ride for me.

Do you happen to own the H80 or H80i?

Well, if anyone does would you mind unmounting it for a moment from the case and just shaking it a little? Any form of confirmation (negative or positive) would help me decide what exactly to do next!

Thanks,

Thank you so much :) I'd give you a "thanks" if this forum had a thanks button. If there is one let me know about it!

It should be normal. The previous generation H80/H100 also had it.

well he removed the radiator (his is very easy) and yes he heard a little slosh noise but he said very little, so I guess it depends on how much your hearing.

Thanks for your responses! The noise isn't substantial so I'm guessing that it is within the range of normal for these coolers.

Thanks again!

There is an air bubble left in the loop left for coolant expansion
PC off -Coolant temp at room temp
PC gaming hard - Coolant - 40C maybe higher

I never thought of that, now that you mention it, it makes perfect sense to have some room for thermal expansion!

Tis normal. As you stated there must be some room for expansion so a little air is left in there. Better than a burst pipe on an active pc.
