h115i Platinum firmware update crashed pump

Recommended Posts

A MASSIVE thanks to Corsair support.

I submittede a support ticket and they sent me an email containing a link to a youtube video telling you how to flash the H115i without ICUE software.

I now have a fully functional H115i Cooling system with RGB lights and fulll control in ICUE once again.

Here is the video tutorial that shows you how to flash the cooling system without ICUE software: [ame=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oW9C8fxU72U]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oW9C8fxU72U[/ame]

The hex file for the H115i RGB Platinum I have uploaded to my server here: https://craft-ee.uk/H115_Platinum_V1.1r15.zip

Why Corsair support have not put this on here I don't know - it would save them a lot of hassle in dealing with this issue!?!?

I hope this helps someone else as it did me.

All the best

Andrew

I have H115I Platinum. I have a problem with the update by ICUE. It doesn't execute, every time you restart it, it's available again for execution and so on.

Can you send me the version of the hex file as shown in the picture?

Does Corsair plan to fix this firmware update problem at all?

The same here. Firmware update crashed, high-speed fans with a lot of noise, I do a lot of online meetings, very disturbing. Called, send me an RMA, sent the bad one back, received a new unit, a month later, the same happened. On hold for customer service. Requesting either a full refund for my purchase or send me a different model. I don't have the time for this. Every device has a smooth firmware update. cant they fix it? can they recall it before we waste our time? I am very upset. One hour holding on Friday and no answer, still on hold for about 30 minutes. The holidays were scheduled 2020 years ago, not sure why they are surprised with it.   I don't want H115i RGB anymore. I will post my reviews to every portal I can reach. (SOLVED) I finally managed to unbrick my H115i Platinum RGB !!!

It bricked during firmware update via iCue. RGB turned off, fans went full throttle, and the pump stopped. The usual recipe. It wasn't easy to fix, but works better than taking it out to send it for warranty/repair.

Imma give you the steps, and i hope as many people see this.

1. Search your C: drive for a "H115_Platinum" .hex file. It's a longer name, but you can find it by searching like this. Copy the file to a handy location, like Desktop for example, and rename it to leave only "H115_Platinum_version number.hex"

2. Restart windows in safe mode (F4 option during recovery startup).

3. Make sure none of the Corsair processes did not start, if so, CTRL+SHIFT+ESC and close them.

4. Go to Services (CTRL+SHIFT+ESC -> Services -> Open Services) and DISABLE the Corsair Services. (3 of them)

5. Go to Corsair installation folder (C:/program files...) and locate the following application (do not open it!) XMCBOOTLOADER.EXE.

6. DRAG AND DROP the .hex file from step 1 over the XMCBOOTLOADER.EXE. The app should now connect to the bootloader, and force push the firmware upgrade.

If you get an error during first time, do not panic! For mine, it worked on 3rd try! Reboot safemode, make sure all the processes and services from corsair are ended/disabled.

When it will work, unicorn barf will light up instantly, and the fans will go to quiet mode.

ALSO, when you want to upgrade the firmware via iCue (very risky), do it in safe mode!

Some processes interfere with the connection between the AIO and iCue (HWInfo, Steam, Logitech control app)

You sir, deserve the a Nobel Prize, and my gratetude for ever :D::cpimp:

I spoke with Miguel from customer support and he opened me a ticket. However I spok with someone else and they had sent my ticket to the Cooling team to get back to me in 1-2 business days, so I'm waiting for that currently. Thank you and looking forward to getting that email ASAP.

Hi there,

I just created an account to tell you that you basically saved my day, thanks a lot !
What a relief it was when my fan finally stopped spinning like crazy !

I will uninstall Icue and never look at it again.

Was able to fix my H100i using this method

So I found the .hex on my computer...
    It's located in *X*:\Users\*USERNAME*\AppData\Local\Temp
*X* is the drive you use to install windows on, *USERNAME* is what account you used to install the program.

Uninstalled iCue and selected Delete profiles and settings.

Booted into safe mode then dragged and dropped the .HEX file over XMCBOOTLOADER.EXE

It was successful and it now works!

Unbricked my H115i ELITE!!!

Want to say, on this Labor Day, thank you to the community who figured this out and the one tech at Corsair who created that video showing the procedure on how to flash the firmware without iCue software. I followed the procedure (and also made sure that HWInfo64, Logitech G hub (options and whatever else) was not on, VPN off etc...

One thing I will leave here is that 9/4/2023 (days before Starfield is out) files have moved around a bit for v5 of the iCue software. The hex file name was much longer, and I saw the multiple versions of this file (4) that the iCUE software unpacked today in the failed attempts at firmware updating and bricking my H115i.  My file name was something like this:

"CUE5SheFlW{34142fae-2eb1-4015-3fc1-b1835924528a}_temp_20230531_Tamriel_App_v1.2.8_H115I_ELITE.hex"

I shortened the filename (probably doesn't matter to do this) before dragging onto XMCBOOTLOADER.EXE which unlike the video, was moved into a different folder. In my case it was in:

C:\Program Files\Corsair\Corsair iCUE5 Software\clink\

I saw a command line window open, and as soon as the writing was done (I was very nervous since the device was reconnecting every 30 seconds, the install program gave a heads up "waiting for USB activity to stop" at the start of its process. Once it finished writing, waiting for 6 seconds or so, the fans finally spun down!

It can now be recognized in the iCue software home page again. I want to uninstall iCue now.

Other reasons for failure to install may be active: Logitech G hub (or other) software, VPN, other programs (HWInfo64 etc...)

Good luck!

PS Notably, the fans are controlled by the Pump voltage out to the fans, not the BIOS Fan speeds (changing in BIOS did nothing to slow them down). I tried installing MSI Center to see if I had extra access to BIOS voltages, my CPU temp shot up from 40 to 80-90 C!!! Did it shut down the pump? I'm not sure. Rebooting Windows, temps were still 80 off the bat, and then dramatically reduced down to 40C again after uninstalling MSI Center. Watch out for this thing! GL!
