kwisatzhaderach
When I first got my X64 this is the performance I was getting. http://i283.photobucket.com/albums/kk293/luv2eather/Computer/attox64.png Now this is what I get after using Parted Magic and a secure erase with a fresh install. http://i283.photobucket.com/albums/kk293/luv2eather/Computer/AttoBench.jpg I am still on firmware 0.1 with no trim. Is this normal over time? Even when I use another boot drive, and test it, I still get the very low write scores, so its not system overhead. Before the secure erase, my read speeds were down as low as my write speeds, so I know that helped some. Even the WEI score puts this drive at 5.9 now instead of 7.2. Corsair Employee RAM GUY Posted January 18, 2011 Corsair Employee Share Posted January 18, 2011 Please use parted Magic and secure erase the drive and then with the drive as a second drive format it with 4096 Allocation and make sure you select quick format. Then test it again and post a screen shot.
Synbios
I would update the firmware and enable TRIM as well.
kwisatzhaderach
I can't get the update to work on my computer. I am finishing up another reinstall and i will give it a try.
kwisatzhaderach
http://i283.photobucket.com/albums/kk293/luv2eather/Computer/atto2.jpg Not much improvement on another secure erase, and quick format. This is testing with the drive not being the boot drive, so no os overhead. Below is the first picture for comparison. http://i283.photobucket.com/albums/kk293/luv2eather/Computer/AttoBench.jpg Also please note, I reinstalled the current set of chipset drivers, and sata drivers just to make sure that was not the problem, and I have also tested them with the stock set Windows 7 installs. Synbios
Did you change the SATA ports that you're using? Does your motherboard have SATA III ports? If it does, make sure you use the SATA II ports. It's a SATA II drive and they actually run faster on Intel SATA II controller than the Marvel SATA III's. kwisatzhaderach
Nope, using Sata II ports. I have swapped ports, and no change.
Corsair Employee RAM GUY Posted January 20, 2011 Corsair Employee Share Posted January 20, 2011 Are you using anything like Bitlocker or any other third party software? And can you test the drive in another system and post the results?
kwisatzhaderach
no bitlocker, I have a nettop, that has a sata I interface, that did not work out well. I have a core i3 laptop, I can try to put it in and see what happens.

Corsair Employee RAM GUY Posted January 24, 2011 Corsair Employee Share Posted January 24, 2011 Please install or image the current install of Windows to another drive that you can boot the system with then run Parted Magic and secure erase the drive (internal Secure Erase) and with this drive as a second drive then quick format the drive with 4K allocation and test it again with ATTO and post a screen shot. kwisatzhaderach
http://i787.photobucket.com/albums/yy159/James1701/Misc%20Computer/fixedssd.jpg Sorry for the delay, I just got back in town. I had the oddest problem last night. Acronis would not restore my disk image to a booting device. I ended up do 4 secure erase functions in about an two hours. Finally I just gave up and did a full reinstall of everything. Low and behold, it works right now, with even better numbers than when the drive was new and first installed. Odd, but still welcomed non the less.
