Computer freezing and crashing recently

Hello everyone! Just yesterday, my computer froze on me while playing BF3 and nothing was responding, so I was forced to do a soft restart. Then again, while quitting BF3, my screen turned black and my comp had restarted. While I do know that this is not likely to be my PSU, which is more than adequate for my system and which is also running behind a UPS, I started running Prime 95 and then I got this-

After searching for what the error could be, a few forums hinted that it may be the RAM. My specs are listed and I would be really glad if anyone could tell me what the error is or help me to narrow it down.

Use memtest instead and test each module one at a time to confirm it is the memory. You'll want to let the program test each module through about 3 passes to ensure it does a thorough test. This will tell you if it is memory related, or if its your CPU as Prime may indicate.

So I tested both sticks of RAM independently on Memtest+ for 24 hours [42 passes] and no errors came. However, after the 24 run of Memtest+, I ran Prime95 and both sticks failed when put independently. So I am fairly sure that it is not the RAM [both sticks can't be bad, can they?] so what should I do to solve the problem? Here's one of the Prime95 fail results-

Any ideas?

Memtest passing and Prime failing would really point towards a CPU fault.

 

Maybe download Intel's CPU diagnostic tool and see how the CPU tests out. This has to be run at stock CPU speeds.

 

Are you overclocking the CPU any? An unstable overclock will also cause these types of failures in prime.

 

What does Primes stress.txt file say?

Thanks! No, I have not overclocked the CPU. I ran IPDT and I have attached a screenshot of the settings and the result is that it has passed, so the only possible component left that can cause a problem is the motherboard. Am I right there?

 

Stress.txt is just a FAQ document :P

I just updated the BIOS and enabled the XMP profile, and now it works allright [passed prime95 over 24 hours]. Here's where things get intresting though- my MS wireless gamepad was unplugged this whole test. Could my problem be because of my XBOX wireless gamepad?

It's possible if there is a driver conflict, but i would tend to think it was the BIOS update that fixed it. They often add support for newer memory along with other fixes and improvements.
