1 USB 2.0 header on mother board, need two.

I have a crystal 280x case with the included Corsair Lighting Node Core with it's USB 2.0 cable, the Lighting Node Pro (NoPro) that is plugged into that with 4 QL120 RGB fans, and also a Hydro Series H115i RGB PLATINUM with it's included USB 2.0 cable and it's 2 ML PRO RGB 140 fans that were included. Those fan's rgb cables plug directly into the cooler and I assume will get detected via it's USB 2.0 cable.

I only have 1 USB 2.0 header on my x570 Aorus I Pro Wifi ITX board.

I bought this splitter hoping that I could use both the liquid cooler's RGB and my fans RGB in iCue and currently none of them are recognized in iCue. If one is plugged directly into the MOBO it's recognized. Any ideas? I'm thinking it's the splitter, but if getting control of all of the RGB from all of my sources with one USB 2.0 header isn't possible I'd like to just know instead of all this trial and error lol

update from further down in the thread:

Quick update, I stopped by work to double check if we got anything in stock today and found this Micro Connectors brand hub. After plugging everything in, everything is getting recognized in iCue but the ML PRO fans are not lighting up at all. Any ideas?

Baio means the NZXT Internal USB Hub - Expands 5 USB 2.0 Ports

https://smile.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01IFGFTJ2

I have purchased this as the Commander doesnt allow me to use both USB ports on it. Both ports work, but not at the same time as it doesnt seem to give enough power.

Others on the forum mentioned the NZXT hub solved this issue for them as well, that's why I bought it myself.

In my case I have a Corsair H80iV2, and a Lighting node pro. I run them on one header, as each only rely on a single USB, and each header provides 2 ports.

I just removed the pins from the cables, and put them into 5 pin 'housings' for the pins, and put both on one header.

This works fine.

Gotcha. I work at micro center and have been waiting for one to show up in stock, but it even looks like amazon has them on backorder. Bummer. Are they the only option for a powered USB 2.0 hub?

I got the NZXT hub initially, then just moved to the commander pro for its lighting controller as well as two port hub.

Bulwark: Have you actually set them up in iCue? They tend to stay black by default.

I think have. This is what I see currently but they're not lighting up.

Edit: I tried swapping the RGB cables around and one lights up no problem when it is in the 1st spot on the splitter and the other either doesn't work or is giving me a single green led. I'm beginning to think it's rgb was doa?

Also, I noticed one of these rgb headers only has 3 pins, is that normal?

I don't have that AIO but I suppose the 2 RGB headers that come from it are something like master/slave, so the fan plugged in the 4 pin one acts like the master and the slave fan simply replicates what the master fan does.

Try to connect (WITH PC POWERED OFF) only 1 fan in the master header and see if it acts correctly, than try the other as master. If both acts correctly as master try the second as slave... there may be a problem in the header or in one of the fans.

Baio

PS. the USB hub you linked should work fine, as it is a powered one.

I appreciate all the help so far guys.

So I picked up a set of QL140 RGB fans today at work on a whim, it was bothering me that the ML PRO's didn't really match the rest of the fans in the case. I went ahead and added them in and tested out the RGB headers that way, with two new fans. They both responded just fine and lit up. Then I realized that the H115i apparently doesn't support controlling the RGB to a QL style fan through its headers. Luckily I had an extra NODE PRO from the 3 pack of QL120s I had bought, so I hooked their RGB up into that guy and they're running perfectly now.

Looks like one of the ML140 fans that came with the H115i was DOA. I went ahead and submitted a warranty request on just the fan.

Completely off topic, but do you notice fan performance and/or noise differences with the ML PRO fans?

I have the H100i which comes with the ML fans and I'm still thinking whether I want to replace them for QL fans or not. Seeing QL fans are very pricey I didn't just want to go ahead and just buy them.
