Corsair AIO and case fan config options advice

Recommended Posts

Good day,

I'm new to Corsair forums and I'm looking at setting up a fan and AIO configuration for my new build and it would be my first time going with Corsair. I have a few configs / options in mind and I would like to get advice on how each would potentially be set up and what each one would need in terms of hubs, controllers etc. If possible, for each config, can the list of individual components be specified so I can know exactly what I need to eventually get.

Existing Build Components:

Case: NZXT H500 (4 fans including 240mm AIO)

Mobo: MSI X470 Gaming M7 AC

PLEASE NOTE: My motherboard has a Corsair RGB header and an MSI Rainbow / ARGB header. How would this Corsair header influence the config?

OPTION 1:

AIO: Corsair Hydro H100i Platinum Special Edition:

FANS: 2x QL120 + 2x LL120 (included with AIO)

RGB STRIPS: 2 - 4 strips (dependent on how many comes with whatever I need)

I would keep the LL fans included with the AIO and install the 2 QL fans as case fans. In this case, I wouldn't get any nodes or controllers unless I choose a 3 fan pack. Now if I do get a 3 fan pack, is the lighting node core compatible with the LL series fans or only with the QL series? Could I combine them onto the CORE? Also, would I need to buy the lighting node pro pack with the 4 RGB strips? As I've found out that the strips are not compatible with the lighting node core, only with the pro version.

OPTION 2:

AIO: Corsair Hydro H100i Platinum Special Edition:

FANS: 4x QL120

RGB STRIPS: 2 - 4 strips (dependent on how many comes with whatever I need)

I would replace the included LL fans with QL ones and install the 2 QL fans as case fans. I also wouldn't get any nodes or controllers unless I choose a 3 fan pack. Also, I presume I would need to buy the lighting node pro pack with the 4 RGB strips? As above, I've found out that the strips are not compatible with the lighting node core, only with the pro version.

OPTION 3:

AIO: Corsair Hydro H100i Platinum Special Edition:

FANS: 2x LL120 + + 2x LL120 (included with AIO)

RGB STRIPS: 2 - 4 strips (dependent on how many comes with whatever I need)

I would keep the LL fans included with the AIO and install 2 LL fans as case fans. In this case, I wouldn't get any nodes or controllers unless I choose a 3 fan pack. Since the LL 3 pack comes with a lighting node pro, would I need buy a separate lighting node pro kit with rgb strips or is the one that comes with the fan pack sufficient for the 4 fans plus any additional rgb strips?

The reason why I'm considering the newer QL series is because the node core essentially has an rgb fan hub as well which is more convenient. Also, apparently it is possible to connect and sync fans on the lighting core with rgb strips on the lighting pro. Lastly, I would I need a commander pro for this setup?

Thus looking all the options, would components would I need for each one respectively?

Please pardon the repetition but its just keep to keep my minimal understanding intact :D:

Any assistance offered is greatly appreciated!
