When I planned my first watercooled build early summer, I expected this to be a natural next step, kind of easy. Oh boy, it did not take long until I realized I was in over my head. Maybe I should have started with an easier build?

I certainly only succeeded with the help of this community - a few tips here and there - so thanks a lot to everyone of this community for not leaving me hanging.

Putting it all together took a while, but man was I nervous before starting the pump for the first time:

No leak, no flood, all good

So after setting everything else up, I installed it in my office today. I'm proud to say it all worked out.

My wife called the little stormtrooper "Sven", and after someone asked me whether I was building a fancy coffee- or time-machine, I ended up calling the system "Tardis"

Almost sad this is through, I would very much like to build another one. But unfortunately my wallet is not able to suffer through something similar in the near future… Again thanks to everyone who replied to my questions.

PS: No idea how I can make the pictures appear smaller...

Question for you- Which riser cable did you use for your graphics card?

I’m going todo the same thing, but haven’t really looked at these yet.

Used a Thermaltake Riser Cable. It is very tight as it sits in the PSU shroud. But I used it instead of the Corsair one due to numerous reports that this had issues on Z390 motherboards.

I love the bending choices you've made, very nice.

love how you have routed from pump to GPU... lovely work buddy :)

Thanks both! Quite a lot of planning - and adapting - went into this. I did the pump to GPU bend last because I anticipated it to be the hardest one. Turned out to be much easier than the ones to and from the CPU...

While I used an alphacool toolkit for bending, I would not have succeeded without a Dremel. Anyone here using a Dremel for this too?

Ah, Good thinking. I have been watching that thread about the issues with the Z390 mobos and riser cables. I'll be going X570 so won't be directly affected. I'm not sure if I need to find one that is explicitly rated for PCIE 4.0 or not. My reading tells me it ought not to matter since currently PCIE 4.0 doesn't really help the GPU pipeline, its mostly useful for NVMe storage. Either way though that's a component I can always swap out later with little effort. For now I'm concentrating on loop design and other parts selection.
