H100i Pro RGB Fan connector

You can, but then the BIOS will be in control of your fans instead of the built in controller on the H100i Pro. That controller allows you to run from coolant temperature (how cooling actually works) and will result in less frequent fan changes than if you allow the BIOS to make it react to CPU temperature.

Your specifications and motherboard are not listed, but I'll guess Asus. It really doesn't matter whether you put the H100i Pro motherboard lead on CPU Fan or AIO or W_Pump. That header does not power the cooler. Power comes from the SATA connector. All controls are through the iCUE software and the USB channel. There is nothing special about any of the motherboard headers, except for the CPU fan. If you don't put something on CPU fan, the BIOS won't let you boot. You can disable this warning, but it also serves a genuine purpose and would let you know the cooler failed with the CPU Boot Error. Disabling it or using the AIO header will not.
