I use an HX1000i but I use Link instead of iCue as I can change the fan profile to a custom one. iCue cannot do that.

My RX 480 was sold as 150W TDP but monitoring the card shows it can be as high as 225W when pushed to the wall gaming. This is why I use Corsair which does not brown out when the video card wants...

Compared to the older AX1000, my PSU has 2 more 8-pin connectors for motherboards and PCIe cables.

The 8-pin goes to the motherboard connector beside the CPU. That is called EPS12V and its there to supply the CPU with additional power over and above the 2x12 cable's abilities.
