This was an option in earlier (z170/z270 motherboards) but now seems to be both enabled and hidden these days.

I really can't say I know what to make of Fan 2. If it works in port 2, it should work in port 1. I'm not disputing you - it just doesn't make sense.

Did you configure the Lighting Channel in iCUE? You need to tell iCUE how many and what type of fans you have. This is in the "Lighting Setup" tab.
