  1. Has anyone actually tried mounting the 2nd row of fans on the outside of the top of the case? Id really like to know if this has been tested. Because it looks much to restrictive with the glass panel on top when I line it all up. There's really only a few mm of clearance for airflow between the fan and the glass. Wouldn't be a problem with the airflow top panel, but the glass? Idk....
  2. I thought about doing the push/pull on top with one row of fans on the outside of the chassis, but then when i tried laying out the fans on top I realized there would be only a few mm of space between the back of the fans and the top glass panel, which seemed like a bad idea to me. If I had the Airflow top panel it would likely work out just fine that way, but with the glass it seems much too restrictive. As far as noise goes, I'm actually totally fine with lots of fan noise. They've never bothered me. I have pretty bad Tinnitus, so making my PC run silent has never been a priority to me. I like the sounds of the fans. Helps drown out the ringing.
  3. Really wished that I had known that I wouldn't be able to do a push/pull config in the top of this case before I purchased it. This is my first build since 2018 and I was extremely excited about it. I picked up a H150i LCD, and extra Commander XT, 3 extra ML RGB Elite fans for the rad, 6 QL fans, and setup the QL fans in the front and side panels. I did all the cable management for the QL fans and got it looking so clean... and then went to setup the rad and ML fans push pull in the top simply to realize it's completely impossible! I even have flexible individually sleeved cables, but there's just no way a push/pull setup will work in the top of this case, and im frustrated that it's even advertised as such on the Corsair site and in videos on YouTube. It's a tight squeeze with a single row of fans, let alone two. There's just not enough clearance for the CPU power headers, or the heatsinks on my Hero Xiii Apex. Now I'm very torn on what to do. Aesthetically, I was really looking forward to the the QL fans setup in front and the lighting patterns Id make in iCue. But now I may have to do the push/pull setup in the front.. Which would require me to remove the front QL fans, and the rad/fans would be blocking most of the side mounted QL fans. What a bummer.. Kinda wishing I could have sprung for the 7000x case instead...but I was already over-budget. Another factor that I hadn't considered at the time is my gpu. Recently upgraded from a 2070 to a 3080ti. Im seeing people here in the forums mentioning higher cpu temps with top mount rad setups because of all the additional heat the 3k series gpus dump into the case... So maybe Id be better off with the less-pleasing-to-the-eye front rad mounting with the ML fans... I mean sure I could put the QL fans on the rad to make it look nicer from the front, but cooling performance would definitely suffer, and I've already got 6 ML RGB Elites for the push/pull config. Im frustrated and not sure how to go about finishing this build now..
  4. Wish I had seen this before I purchased the 5000x, a H150i LCD, and extra Commander XT, 3 extra ML RGB Elite fans, 6 QL fans, and setup the QL fans in the front and side panels, and then went to setup the rad and ML fans push pull in the top just to realize it's completely impossible. I even have flexible individually sleeved cables, but there's just no way a push/pull setup will work in the top of this case, and im frustrated that it's even advertised as such. Especially when using all Corsair products in my build. This is my first PC build I've been able to afford since before the Pandemic started and I'm so bummed out right now. Im probably going to have to undo all the work I did last night setting up all the other fans and reconfigure everything for push/pull in the front. Which is not going to look nearly as nice as the original setup I had with the QL's pulling air through the front and side panels... Kinda wish I would have just gotten the 7000x, but it would have blown my budget... *sighs*
  5. Thanks! And good idea! I have an imgur account too and didn't think of that XD. Perhaps ill upload them and repost. I have more pics I'd like to share anyway!
  6. Meant to share these much sooner! More pics coming soon! Thinking about some mods that'll add some more flare to the case hehe. Ive never done an RGB build before, so I went a bit all-out this time.
  7. UnexpectedGreg, thanks for your video upload! That's what gave me the idea to perform this trial and error test. For your situation, since all of your fans are displaying the same behavior as 3 of mine were, Its quite possible that your no. 1 slot fan has some LEDS gone bad and they're effecting your entire chain of fans. Try shutting everything down and swapping around your led connectors on your lighting node, starting with swapping your no 1 fan connector with the last one in your chain. If all the other fans behave normally after that, but the one still bugs out,. Then you've found your culprit!
  8. Looks like I found the culprit! I didn't realize it from the angle i was originally inspecting the lights from, but tonight I really got a good look inside, and discovered that a couple leds on the ring of fan number 4, which was causing fan 5 and 6 to bug out like crazy. I even had a spare lightning node here to test just in case. In both tests, when i swapped no. 4 to the 6th slot, both my no 5 and 6 fan's LEDs behaved normally again! So im pretty positive now that I'll have to RMA this one LL140 fan.
  9. I guess im going to try swapping some fans connections around to troubleshoot this problem too, because ive tried all the other suggestions on the software/firmware side. My whole system is relatively new and I have 6 LL series fans running in my 500D SE case and all of a sudden the 5th and 6th fans just totally tweak out and go crazy if i set them to anything other than a static color. Im guessing that maybe some sort of fault developed in fan 5 and thats causing 6 to display the same weird , buggy behavior with the lightning. The "flickering" im experiencing isnt like what ive seen in most other people's videos, with the occasional bright flicker. The problem seems to be when they try to transition between any colors or patterns. They go beserk, quickly flashing and flickering all sorts colors that theyre not suppose to. Over the past week, i could have sworn i saw an odd flicker out of the corner of my eye while sitting across the room from my PC. Now tonight I turned on my Pc and those two fans were just going crazy as soon as it started up. Looks like there may be an RMA in my future. Because yeah, these fans are expensive and I havent had them long. Havent gotten to get on my PC much in the last few month either. Been so busy. Finally have some free time to get on here and enjoy, only to discover this headache! I just recently picked up a shiny new K95 Plat on a great sale too... grr! Actually, for some reason i didnt see the post @UnexpectedGreg made! Thats pretty much exactly what my two fans are doing! Just going nuts like that.
  10. Hrrm.. This forum really doesn't Ike to allow me to share pics lol....
  11. So sorry this message is so late! I haven't completely finished setting it up the way I want it, but its already lookin great!
  12. Wowie! My pics came out HUGE on here ! Sorry bout that. First time posting pics on here.
  13. I finally have some pics I can share of my 500D SE RGB, jus got everything in today and finished putting it all together. Still need to clean up the wiring a bit more, but I didn't want to go all out on cable management yet in case I needed to change any wiring once I got everything running and started messing around in iCue. Some people asked me to share pics a while back, so here they are! (if this works properly lol. Ive actually never shared pics on here yet!) https://i.imgur.com/XtwohRB.jpg https://i.imgur.com/xJtfjWX.jpg https://i.imgur.com/EkX7sJP.jpg https://i.imgur.com/WKdZD0N.jpg https://i.imgur.com/oleFrvQ.jpg
  14. After 7 years of using a 650D, I finally upgraded to the 500D SE. Got it in today, and I gotta say, it is FREAKIN GORGEOUS! Im in the process of transplanting my PC into it now. I do agree with what some other people were saying. I'd really like to have seen the added RGB Corsair logo on the PSU shroud like the one they added to the 570x Mirror Black. Not sure why they didn't think to include that. I think it was smart on their part to ditch the curved glass panel on front. More cost-effective, and instead the curve comes from the really thick and sleek-looking door handles. I just wish that they would have passed on a little of that savings in design change onto their customers! Maybe by including a rear exhaust LL120 just to complete the package and make the case feel like its completely ready to go right out of the box. Ive never spent this much money on a case before, Im on a fairly tight budget (it was difficult to make this purchase happen)and now I have to go spend another $30+ just to pick up a matching exhaust fan! Ack! Lol. Still, the case is stunning! Im enjoying the build so far. After using an Obsidian series case for so many years, this one really felt like the right choice of upgrade for me..
