  1. So it's been a long time since I made the original post. I'm not sure who was the one to fix this, I assume it has to do with the way windows interacts with ICUE. So steam, doesn't seem to be the issue. Disconnects don't seem to discriminate, it loves to disconnect no matter what program I run! Disconnects happened long before I ever had any sort of Aura program or plugin installed. I had always gone into my global power management settings and set USB ports to not shutdown to save power. This appeared to be on the right track. I happened to come across this solution on another thread in the forums. I figured I'd post this here. This thread seems to be more recently active Go to your Control Panel > System > Hardware tab > and click on the "Device Manager" button. In the Device Manager window, find the item or items labeled "Universal Serial Bus controllers." Open it, and double-click the first item called "USB Root Hub." (I found that only my usb 3 ports had anything close to this label so I went through and changed it for all of my ports regardless of it had this same label) In the USB Root Hub Properties dialog, click on the "Power Management" tab. "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" is checked by default. Uncheck this box, and click "OK." I know this seems like a pretty easy solution, But I can't recall ever going into these settings individually, only through the global settings through the advanced power management settings. Not sure if this will work for everyone, but my MM800 mouse pad has caused me disconnect issues LITERALLY for 2 years now. Just having the mouse pad plugged in would cause random disconnects that would chain through the system. Since I did this, I have yet to have a single disconnect. May be worth going through and making sure that any of your corsair devices are set accordingly.
  2. I just tried to take a look at that myself. Doesn't seem to work for me either. TBH I think that that feature looks to be broken in ICUE right now. That or based on the common denominators here, it could be the lighting node core not playing nice. I have a commander pro with LED node as well and I only ever have issues with lighting that are attached to that lighting node core. I think right now you have 2 solutions. Physically change the orientation of the fan, or if you don't want to do that, just flip the lighting effects around.
  3. On system startup, Your peripherals will be set to the default RGB rainbow effect, or if the device has on board memory, you can save your profile to that. Though i believe the on board storage is the only way to do that without ICUE running. The on board storage can only be changed through ICUE, which should be available as a specific profile. Unfortunately the program has a high impact on startup so you may notice it may take a second for your system to boot and ICUE to fully take over if you are using it. THe onboard profile can make this a lot smoother. As for the St100 it may just be that nothing is set on the lighting profile, or because it does not have on board storage it pretty much means you have to have ICUE running. That or check the cable connection. I've found the cable is very heavy at connection point to the unit and has bent over time, got a new one and was working okay, pop something under if it is being fickle.
  4. So, I decided today, i'd leave the computer running while i was at work. I made sure steam was not running. put it on a certain profile knowing that if anything disconnects, the default lighting profile will kick back in and I could see if it was steam causing the issue. Nothing seemed to disconnect while I was gone. I did however have a 2 hour gaming session last night where No disconnection happened. Steam was running the whole time for that. Actually to be totally honest, since I made the original post, I don't think anything has cut out. Which is frustrating because I haven't really done anything since then but monitor what programs are running and trying to pinpoint where the disconnects are happening.
  5. I have not explicitly checked for something like that TBH. I can definitely recall it happening while playing games in other launchers, though I can not confirm that Steam was not also running in the background. I will check to see if that happens to be the variable i'm looking for. Thanks so much for the idea! I've been racking my brain trying to figure what it could be. Steam seems to be a very logical explanation. You have no idea how much relief i have right now, knowing I haven't exhausted every solution lol. Just curious, do you think the actual lighting profile and how complex some of the lighting patterns are could have caused any sort of issue? i do use some pretty intricate lighting profiles. Some lighting Link effects as well as custom. Some taking anywhere between 5-7 seconds to cycle through the whole system and peripherals.
  6. So, My Rig contains a k70 mk.2, MM800 RGB mouse mat, Glaive Mouse, ST100, Vengeance Pro RGB ram (2 are the dummy sticks), 5 LL 120 RGB fans, and 4 LED expansion strips. I have the fans and LED strips running off of a Commander Pro and LED lighting hub. The problem here is not setting up. Everything is wired correctly and works and lights up properly. Whole setup looks Unbelievable. My issue is what seems to be a completely and totally random disconnection of devices. When the disconnection happens, I loose control of the Mouse, the mouse mat turns off, and seconds later all of my devices in the case flicker to RGB rainbow, and reloads My default profile on all devices and everything is back connected again. Oddly enough, the k70 does not disconnect EVER, and the ST100 is sometimes the same though it does go out once in a while. It doesn't seem to be related to performance, as this actually happens more when idle than while under load in any way. thought it has happened several times while gaming which really gets annoying for both myself and my teammates. Again, this actually seems to happen randomly, as I've had it happen frequently in some cases, but at times it won't do it for almost a day or so, at least that I notice. I'm just curious if anyone else has this issue. I assume that this is most likely a Software issue, and have tried EVERYTHING on the hardware end to fix this issue with no luck. Just grasping at straws I guess
  7. Really not too worried that it can't do EVERYTHING. if you're buying a k55 you should understand that you're limited to 3 lighting zones and limited effects. I bought the keyboard knowing that. People need to do their research before buying something like this if they want it to work the way they want. whats already been added here is nothing short of remarkable. I am aware of the limitations of the keyboard, but I would imagine the average user or buyer of this keyboard is really not going to care about the very limited few options that do not work. I used the old version of CUE and the options for this keyboard were very limited and could not sync up properly to my Corsair harpoon, St100 and MM800. This update allows the keyboard to link up to everything else with the same patterns (for the most part) and effects. to me what was added was enough to justify at least a slight price increase on corsairs part. Long story short. I'm VERY happy with what the software does and think that corsair is the way to go for anyone that wants to put some RGB into their setup and not have it look tacky and like a child build it. I'll end this by saying this, despite the issues you claim, it's not a high end mechanical keyboard. it's designed to sit in a certain place in the market for the budget enthusiast. Yes the software has a few bugs, and i'm sure they will be fixed over time. But as it stands right now i really dont feel that anyone that owns a k55 or is considering purchasing one has anything to complain about as far as performance per dollar is concerned. this software makes the k55 an insane bang for your buck.
  8. Really? i hadn't really noticed any issues with any of the lighting options available. Either way you probably know better than I would. In the end, the software gives the keyboard options it had a fraction of before. Allows people to start "bawlin on a budget" or so to speak. I don't really feel a need to get salty about all the things that don't work 100% or are not in there right now. I'm to busy with all the stuff it DID bring to the table.
  9. Not sure if anyone has noticed, but the new ICUE update has given users with some of the lower end keyboards (Myself included, i use a K55) a whole ton of new lighting options that it didn't before. I'm definitely not complaining, I had just noticed not many people, if any had posted about this. I don't believe corsair even really touched on this in the release notes. either way, the improvements for a keyboard with only 3 lighting zones are actually quite game changing as far as the whole setup is concerned. Everything I had read, had also told me the K55 was not able to sync up to my other lighting link enabled devices but now it does flawlessly. In the end i was considering buying a better keyboard as my whole setup is kind of dependent on all of my Lights syncing up (and trust me i have a lot of them). I no longer am considering this option as this update has pretty much given me a brand new keyboard, as far as the software side is concerned at least. This is not necessarily a review, just more of a post to inform some of the users of the less expensive products out there that don't get quite the recognition they deserve. I have seen people complain that there isn't a lot of content devoted to some of these products, so just though i'd give a heads up to anyone who hadn't really looked into it yet.
