Default Questions on Corsair CMFSSD-64N1 64GB SSD

I just noticed NCIX selling this SSD and I found nothing about it on the web. I'm assuming this was just released recently and silently...

My questions are:
1. How does it compare to the S128GB and P256GB models?
2. What does the "M" stand for on the label (labeled M64 on the drive)?
3. What controller is it using (Samsung, Jmicron, Indilinx)?
4. Is there trim support for this drive?
5. Will it be firmware upgradeable to support trim if it doesn't already have it?

I bet money that it is using a Samsung controller since all of Corsair's other ssd do. However, it's read/writes speeds are much better then the 128 ssd... and it's a very good price (compared to the competitors).

The 64 Gig Drives are not controller specific drives so we have not specified a controller that we use or will use as it will be subject to change at any time with out notice. And the current Spec of our 64 Gig SSD 9CMFSSD-64N1) is 170 MBps Read and 100 MBps Write. But the current drives are using the JMicron JM602 controller.

Sorry about that but also this is the "B" version that is much more stable and the spe'c has been corrected.

Curious, do these have on-board cache?

I was under the impression that most JMicron controllers don't have a cache, which causes system freezes/stutters.

A: NO there is no Cache on this SSD, sorry!

A: As I stated previously that was for the "A" version and we are using the "B" version which has not displayed those symptoms.

NP and I just set the 64 Gig version up on a A8N32-SLI just to test and it was quite fast and stable so I dont think you will have any problems either way.

I am sorry but I do not understand your question, but this specific drive in question is no longer in production.
You would have to go with CMFSSD-64GBG2D (Samsung) or CMFSSD-64D1 (Indolinks) drives unless a reseller had old stock of the CMFSSD-64N1 (J-Micron) drives.

the m64 is not an drive any one should get (unless its the CMFSSD-64GBG2D (Samsung) or CMFSSD-64D1 drives) due to the problems with the JMicron JM602 controller (a or b the problem is still there, untill the new JMicron controller comes out in the next months or towards the end of the year should be avoided until then),

if you are got an M64 buy two of them and put them in raid 0 and turn on Write back cache in the intel matrix software so Writes are performed when reads are not happening

get the S/P128 corsair SSD or the P256 as thay do not suffer from them problems due to the drives having cache and you do not need to raid the above drives

What are you talking about the CMSSD-64N1 drive using Samsung Flash and the second generation Jmicron controller has no problems; I am using one now and it runs great in fact I am looking for another one that I can use with a Raid setup.
But I would agree the newer Samsung Drives would be better choice if you have not purchased the drives yet. But only because of the faster performance not because there are any problems. I have not seen any issues as of yet and I have reloaded the O.S. on seven different MB's to date and it has and is running great.
You can see the stats on this post about Partition alignment, which correct me if I am wrong but you and several others made a big stink about and that was proven not to be the case.

Google < The SSD Anthology > and goto page 17 (as there was No point in posting the link as it would of been moded out any way)

the new m64 corsair SSDs i believe do not use JMicron any more they use samsung or some other make (we are talking about the controller chip here not the flash and the longevity of the drive)

Some motherboards or IDE/AICH drivers setups can have lag it very much so happens when all Blocks on the SSD now need to be erased before an Write can be performed, RAID 0 on intel ICH seems to Hide the issue once the Option Writeback cache is turned on, this is an Luck issue with JMicon drives but if you looked at that page above you can see why it can happen

your better getting the Corsair s/p128 (the S128 i have now may be slow on data rate but every thing works fast showing data rate is Not that important, its more Write access times that no SSD maker shows, JMicron controller IOPS is slower then an HDD on Write access once the SSD needs to erase before Write)

That article was mostly about one of our competitors and they never mentioned our drives.
I have not seen any of these issues as explained here in this article but I would agree go for the next generation drives as they are faster..
Not to mention the Corsair M-64 Drive is no longer available..
From that article and about the controller we used.

For starters, a second revision of the JMF602 controller came out last year - the JMF602B. This controller had twice the cache of the original JMF602A and thus didn’t pause/stutter as often.
