editorizer
:(: Sick to my stomach. Bought this cooler in Feb 2012 and after less than 50hrs runtime it has leaked green slime all over a new system. I have no idea what will still work. Then I see the lowball insurance that Corsair offers for damage to other components. Let's see, 120.00 power supply by Corsair. I7 3960X over 1000.00. Rampage Extreme MB over 450.00. EVGA GTX-580 at roughly 600.00. 125.00 Case and lord only know what else. Was I a fool for buying this cooler?? After trying to get an RMA since last Sunday - may be? I will call the 800 number instead. The RMA process is difficult at best. In the meantime I have purchased a traditional cooler for this unit to test the components. All I can hope for is that they all work. All my system components are separately insured except for one major issue. Inherent Vice Exclusions. Now, is this a common or inherent issue with these coolers? If so, then I am SOL there too unless someone can help me with a great explanation to my insurance company and Corsair is willing to pay the deductible. Or help me explain to the manufacturers why their products failed under warranty? With green slime attached. Please wish me the best, as I am afraid to even fire this unit up. Oh - did I forget to mention the 8 sticks of Corsair Dominator DDR3 2133 MHz (PC3 17000) Ram at a cost of 600.00 give or take a buck or two. You see Corsair - I put a lot of faith in your product and have for the past 20 years or so, but that one 120.00 cooler has kicked me in the tail real good!!
Toasted
Take a lot of pictures of the coolant leak and parts that it leaked on to and send it to Corsair. Post your case # so RAM GUY can message customer service.

jlhawn
sorry to hear this happened to you. i too would be sick and mad at the same time. I have never had a coolant leak but i stopped using water cooling 4 years ago due to reading stories like yours, air coolers no days work so good I am staying with air, and even water cooling makes noise as the fans have to crank up just like a air cooling heat sink
Wlada011
I have all reliance on this kind of cooler but only on CORSAIR models... I know who make this but when something have CORSAIR name that give me some certainty. Many people use Hydro series, good and big forum and support, known ....I hope something like this never happen to me and because of that I change H70(still work) after 1.5 year and buy H100 always to have newer model. I will keep this about 2 years than new cooler same type same CORSAIR Hydro newer model. But it's bigger chance to system die because bad power, storm, or something like that than H100 leak. For me is Hydro all in one much safer than my hands to connect tubes and use much more quantity of water, this is not water... and if something happen chance are big to everything work but if custom loop leak prepear funeral for HW, because service know how look damage with liquid. jinker
I read an earlier post from someone who just happened to mention that Corsair gets pallet loads of RMA returned equipment. Just made me think.....pallet loads of returns? I know they're a big company but I wonder what items are failing?

karunkumar
I completely agree with this. I also read a quite similar story 15 days ago. I was seriously considering purchasing a liquid cooler on the lines of H100 from Corsair but have now decided to hold it back for a while. sorry to hear this happened to you. i too would be sick and mad at the same time. giltyler
I feel for anyone who has lost components due to a faulty product and will be dumping my H80 if it gets replaced. I am lucky that my is noisey and not leaky:eek:

Just made me think.....pallet loads of returns? I know they're a big company but I wonder what items are failing? Yes, pallets. Your talking tens if not hundreds of thousands of items sold world wide every month. Add to that the millions of other products that have been sold in the past that may have failed , memory reaching end of life, and so on. Mail system puts them all on pallets for easy delivery. It's like this with any large company.

Having viewed this forum for the past 6 months I would hazard a guess coolers are up near the top of the list? RMA returns will only happen within a guarantee problem. End of life memory isn't a RMA return. Jinker

Same thing happened to me at the end of August and I'm still going through the RMA process. They have had my parts (leaking H100 and my brand new GTX 670 OC edition) for a week now and I still haven't had any news from them about the status of the RMA or my claim for compensation for the damages gpu. The thought of only getting $150 for my $489 gtx 670 is also concerning. I really hope they see the sense in maintaining their reputation for excellent customer service by compensating the few (and it is still a rare occurrence though there seems to have been more than usual since the start of 2012) customers who have had leaking H100's, for the full amount of the damaged parts. Full thread on my leaking H100 can be found if for anyone that's interested: http://www.overclock.net/t/1300669/corsair-h100-leaked-onto-my-brand-new-graphics-card-and-motherboard

mrpdean
Please post your case and or RMA# and I will look into the case for you both. Thanks RAM GUY, appreciate the assistance. My RMA# is 5026192. Note that even though the online tracker still says "Defective Parts Not Yet Received", according to UPS and confirmed in an email from your customer support person, the parts were received on the 24th of September so I'm not sure why the online tracker is not updating. funpilot
Ram Guy, here is a suggestion for a brilliant marketing move for Corsair. Any part with their brand name that fails and as a result damages any other Corsair brand product is replaced free of charge. That would induce purchasers to buy as much Corsair products as they can. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted October 10, 2012 Corsair Employees Share Posted October 10, 2012 I am sorry that this has happened but you need to keep this in perspective currently we are selling about 50,000-80,000 of our H-Series cooler per month and while there are several people who have reported an issue it is still a small percentage that this has happened to. The alternative is to build you own water cooling system which will cost 3-5 times more and you have no warranty at all if something leaks or use a High end Air cooler. And even the best Air cooler will not do as well as water cooling under full load for extended periods of time. So while I agree there is a risk and for some its not worth the risk but for others its not even a question...
wytnyt
the way i see it is by the time when they 'may' leak, your computer is outdated and will need replaced anyways
Synthohol
one of my custom water loops is almost 6 years old and never had a leak. another is like 4 years old still no leaks. the third i had in 3 different systems and never leaked. i realize its just good luck or the fact that each system was $300-$400 to build. all 80% distilled water 20% purolator antifreeze. never any additives. if any of them had leaked and killed a 300.00 vid card i would cry but would have no recourse. IIRC Corsairs warranty states it only covers the actual cooler itself and no other components. you agree to this by buying one. if they offer to pay for other damage it is going above and beyond the stated terms of the warranty. there is ALWAYS a risk to watercool, you introduce (on purpose) liquid in an electrical environment!
