Default Accelerator 45 GB with Dataplex will not boot

I just installed a 45GB Accelerator SSD with a new WD 750GB 7200RPM drive in a Dell XPS L702X laptop.

Installation went without issues. Installed a new copy of Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit on the WD and installed all updates available.

OS was installed with AHCI enabled.

Installed Dataplex 1.1.3.7 software without errors or problems. Reboot.

System came up fine. Dataplex status was enabled and looked good. Rebooted again to check performance.

At "Starting Windows", the system stopped booting and just stayed there. No Windows logo.

Power off and back on. Dataplex showed the "Shutdown Problem" message. I allowed it to flush the cache and restart. Same problem.

Power off and back on again. This time I disabled Dataplex and the system came up fine. Uninstalled Dataplex. Updated the Firmware on the Accelerator to 5.02. Rebooted without issues.

Repeated the Dataplex install and reboots. Same result.

Disabled AHCI in the registry and the BIOS and rebooted. Installed Dataplex with the exact same result.

At this point I'm considering returning the Accelerator to where I purchased it. Anyone have any ideas at this point?

Continuing my attempts to get this thing to work...

Without Dataplex installed, partitioned and formatted the Accelerator without problems. Reinstalled Dataplex and still had the same issue.

Going to try removing the Accelerator and seeing if Dataplex will work with my older Reactor R60 SSD.

I did try swapping the positions of the drives, moving the Accelerator to the Drive 1 slot and the WD to Drive 2. Still not working.

Just a thought but being a dell , does the hdd have a hidden recovery partition , that would be an issue

There is a 1.1.3.8 version available , from memory it fixes a bug where Dataplex tries to cache to the wrong drive , not sure what else it may or may not fix , hopefully RG will notice this and advise you as it's not for general use yet but they can send it out . failing that it may be worth getting in touch with Nvelo direct as they are pretty quick at squashing bugs atm .

The Accelerator software will only work with our Accelerator Drives so that may be normal. And we have sent an email request to DataPlex to check into this and see if they have any suggestions. But we suspect it may because many of the Mobil implementations of Dual HDD support can only access one HDD at BOOT.

Can you test our Accelerator drive on a desk top system?

My desktop is running Linux. I'll have to see if I can install it in my HTPC when I get home.

Where can I get a copy of 1.1.3.8?

You would need to open a ticket with Dataplex directly to get their latest beta version of the software. sorry but we can only support what is officially released.
And a few more things to check after speaking with Nvelo.
Can you go to BIOS setup and look in the Boot menu and see if you can select either the HDD or the Accelerator drive as a boot option?

In order for dataPlex to work it would need to be seen as a boot able option but you select the Host drive as the boot drive not the accelerator drive as the Boot drive.

They can both be seen as bootable in BIOS and are selectable. Sounds like it just isn't going to work with the laptop.

Then it should work according to Nvelo and they tested initially with HP Notebooks, is there any type of Boot loader that DELL is installing pre-boot?
And do you have the latest BIOS installed on your system?
And just to be clear you are selecting the other HDD as the Boot drive in your BIOS right?

Edit and if you have a digital camera can you post a few pics of the Boot options in the BIOS it may help us to be sure the BIOS supports this?
