hi all:

am a new forum member and about to build a new work machine (current, dual Opteron box, i've been running since Oct. 2007) and have decided to go w/ a Xeon E5-1650 on the above mentioned ASUS workstation board...so: will a CEB board work in a 650D?...i have perused these forums and saw a post from 2012 ( http://forum.corsair.com/v3/showthread.php?t=108644 ) that said they got a CEB board in a 550D but lost access to on-board SATA ports...and saw another one from last January ( http://forum.corsair.com/forums/showthread.php?p=623651 ) asking about a CEB board in a C70 and RAM GUY (guru) said yes but would cover 2 main grommets and thus hindering cable management...i haven't been able to find anything, however, re. a 650D...hence my post...i do see the 650D is a little deeper than the 550D (curiously ... 0.6" ... the same diff between an ATX and CEB board) ... so i am optimistic this might work ... also, i will be running a couple of LSI SAS controllers for my SAS & SSD drives so don't really need all on-board SATA ports..am hoping RAM GUY, or any other gurus, might give me a definitive answer...thanks in advance

according to the Asus website, the P9X79-E WS is 22mm wider than the P8Z68 DELUXE I have in my 650d.

I've taken a look and yes it'll cover more of the cable management holes, but you can still have pretty decent cable management as there are still some free and accessible

so, yes, it'll fit and your sata connections would be fine too

I concur with rea1high. I've mounted a Rampage IV in a 650D and it's actually a little wider than the P9X79-E.

It would over run the first row of grommets about half way. If you use flexible SATA cables, you should still be able to use them. (If not, you could just run them straight across to the cages.) I don't have pictures of my Rampage in the case, but here is a picture of a standard ATX with the 10.5 dimension marked.

As you can also see, the ATX and video power cables can use the second-row grommets without an issue.

rea!high(lol) and deees - muchas gracias for the quick replies, the answers and the JPG ... again - as i mentioned before, ll be doing all my SATA ssd's off one of two LSI SAS controllers, thus the maybe-blocked on-board SATA ports are of no real concern...think i'll pull the trigger

again - thanks for the 411 !!
