JoeHowse
Hello All, Before I start, my specs are: Asus Rampage Extreme IV Motherboard i7 3930k 2x Palit 4gb GTX 680's HyperX 16gb RAM When I start up my PC I'm greeted with the message "CPU Fan Error" The fans appear to be spinning and the LED's are on on the pump. However when I go into the bios, the temp of the processor is usually around 80 degrees and the fan speed just says N/A. I can use the bios for around 2-3 minutes before it crashes, I suspect due to overheating. My only suspicion is that the pump just isn't working correctly. Is there anything I could do other than an RMA? As I can't be too long without a working PC. Very sorry if this is in the wrong forum. Thanks, Joe
Yellowbeard
How do you have power connected to the pump? Describe all of the connections to the H100 and how you have connected them to your MOBO or PSU.
JoeHowse
Sorry, I didn't build this PC myself and am not sure on the connections, if you could tell me how I can tell if appreciate it.
Yellowbeard
You need to look inside your case and find the connectors from the H100 cooler and trace them to where they are connected. If you cannot do this, you will need to get someone to assist you.
JoeHowse
It's just started to work again however this seems to happen every few days so I assume something is wrong, I'll look at the wires shortly and get back to you.

JoeHowse
Hello, I've looked inside and found that there are only 2 wires plugged into the top of the h100, one appears to lead straight up into the radiator/fans and the other is just connected to the PSU. I've also tried unplugging where the "CPU Fan" is plugged in on the motherboard. The RPM of the fan is now changing from 0-400 usually. Do you guys think I should just RMA? Toasted
The 3-pin (One wire) will go to the CPU_FAN header while the SATA power connector will plug into a SATA power header from the PSU. Have you tried a different SATA power cable? If that does not help, request an RMA to replace the H100i.
