CMK32GX4M2B3000C15 compatibility with ASUS CROSSHAIR HERO VI AM4

Hi folks,

I bought DDR4 memory:

Corsair Vengeance LPX Black 32GB (2x16GB) DDR4 3000 - CMK32GX4M2B3000C15

but Im not sure if its compatible with ASUS CROSSHAIR HERO VI AM4 motherboard.

On Corsair page I can see only Compatibility > Intel X99 and 100 Series platforms

My question is...Are those RAM memories compatible with AMD (AM4) motherboards???

I need quick respond because I got all components at home and I dont want to ruin my PC.

Thanks a lot.

They should be compatible. I think the reason it's not listed is that AM4 only supports 2400 Mhz without overclocking your RAM. Even with 3000 Mhz RAM, in your BIOS you will see it will be set at 2400 Mhz. Most Ryzen users have reported they can boost their RAM up to 2800 without crashing.

They work only on basic speed 2166Mhz which is supported by Asus for now. I hope this will change soon. I didnt overclock my memory yet because I couldnt find timings. If you have some good links, please share with us.

THanks a lot.

Great! and congratulations... I got only 2 DIMMS 2x16GB.

New BIOS is available for motherboard CROSSHAIR VI HERO BIOS 0902 - 2017/03/13 here > https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/ROG-CROSSHAIR-VI-HERO/HelpDesk_Download/

Select OS - OTHERS ---> only in this category is new BIOS available.

With manual setting I'm able to set my RAM on 2666Mhz without any problem. I hope I'll push them to 2993Mhz ::pirate::

unfortunately this isn't true. CMK32GX4M2B3000C15 I think uses a dual rank while CMK16GX4M2B3000C15 is single rank....

NO, they're Corsair Vengeance LPX Black DDR4 16GB (2x8GB) 3000MHz CL15 ...so they're 2 DIMMs. I'm with CMK32GX4M2B3000C15 able to get 2666Mhz which is according to Guru3D - "2667 MHz is probably a sweet spot price performance wise, also recommended by AMD with a two DIMMs setup."

So I supose they'll be supported soon, or they are already, just there is no update yet.

how did you get them to post as 2666?

I'm using latest bios (F4), there is a "beta" bios "F5d", not try yet as it's called "beta"

I have an "Alpha" BIOS 0511 Date: 03/16/2017 in an ASUS Prime B350-Plus and it does better than the released BIOS 0503 available via https://www.asus.com/uk/Motherboards/PRIME-B350-PLUS/HelpDesk_Download/

You could always try the Beta and revert is there are issues.

You need to check as different revisions of the same part may be different, see http://forum.corsair.com/forums/showthread.php?p=895542

See http://forum.corsair.com/forums/showthread.php?p=894966 for what should be possible.

Checked "Rank 2", based on the presentation slide for Dual channel, it only support up to 2133? would it be changed if there are new BIOS released? if not, i should just buy 2133 ram instead of 3000 ram....:[pouts:

I suspect a later BIOS to improve the speed, but you really want 2 x Single Rank (Rank 1) DIMMs to get the best possible.

At the moment I get new alpha BIOS releases at least weekly mainly trying to improve the memory speeds, though I guess Ryzen 5 support is also being added.

The fastest I have heard of (I have a SIV save file from the system) is 3.20 GHz on an ASUS Prime X370-Pro AMD Ryzen 7 1700X Eight-Core (Summit Ridge) with Dual Channel CMK16GX4M2B3200C16 Single Rank DIMMs, but I don't know how stable the system is.

You should add your full PC specs to your profile.

Thanks. Added my PC specs. I use 1700X with Gigabyte Gaming 5 (BIOS: latest F5d). Hopefully, Gigabyte will update the BIOS as frequent as ASUS.

I just added Gigabyte AX370-Gaming 5 support to the latest SIV beta and wonder if you would like to test this for me. If so then:

  1. Get the SIV 5.17 release and run it.
  2. Do Menu->File->Download->SIV Beta to get Beta-04 or later
  3. Exit SIV 5.17 and run the 5.18 beta.
  4. Post the initial screen + Menu->Hardware->Sensor Debug + Menu->Hardware->Hardware Status screens.
  5. SIV reports Gigabyte ABB350-Gaming 3s OK so should do OK with a 5

See http://forum.corsair.com/forums/showthread.php?p=853900 for how to attach a file/screen image to a post.

Hiya Fatal144,

I have the same memory, same problem, different motherboard.

Like you I can get the memory kit to 2667Mhz

But I would like to get what is advertised on the box...

3000Mhz (or near as dammit)

I have the same 16gbx2 so the total is 32Gb

kit number CMK32GX4A2B3000CL15

Not that other 8gbx2 total 16gb kit

I trawl the net every so often, like once a week to see if anyone has had any success with these at 3000Mhz and with an AMD platform motherboard.

So far nothing has turned up.

If you find anything please would you post it here so I can try the same timings too?

Thank You.

JD

.. I'm looking at buying that set, CMK32GX4A2B3000CL15, have you had any issues other than not being able to go above 2666?

I'm currently on *another* brand, and have had 2 ram failures so far, and I'm looking to switch.

My case, I can run with 1 stick fine (and yes they are on the QVL for the board) mostly .. with maybe 1 bsod in 3 or 4 days, I was running with an original pair but started getting random BSOD's, and that's when I found the first failed stick.

I was running error free on the single 16G from my original pair for 10+ days, but now have had a fault with that .. hence the desire to find something else that maybe more stable.

my current ram does 15-15-15-35 rather than this pair's 15-17-17-35 but figure its the closest and possibly more reliable timing hence why Corsair's would support it..

I'm not looking to really over clock .. I'm just looking for solid performance at spec with zero failure (I know seems a lot to ask) but really need reliability. I can't afford the BSOD either locally or when I'm remote (though gratefully windows 10 has been handling a bsod well enough to come back up and on line, I just worry about damaging my data, which is why a lot of the special to me stuff is on SSD to minimize time needed to save/store etc).

sorry for the rambling..
