Missing Corsair Link Digital interface cable

Hello!

I bought a new AX1200i a few months ago and installed it without a hitch . I've been a happy user ever since. A few days ago I decided I wanted to more closely monitor what was going on inside the PSU so I began to install Link hardware and software.

But when I opened the anti-static bag I noticed that it didn't contain all the cables for Link but only the Corsair Link USB Dongle. The Corsair Link Digital interface cable is missing. Was it supposed to be in the anti-static bag as well?

I couldn't locate the cable in question from Corsair online store, or from any online store for that matter.

I created a ticket in corsair.force.com (ticket #6205898) but no-one has answered me. In fact, no-one has ever answered me there before I create a thread here...

Anyway, I'd like very much to get my hands on one.

Cheers,

Ghostbuster

Hi I have a different problem. I dont have usb 2.o header on my Asus maximus impact motherboard. I replaced by old board board with this one as it was faulty. Is there some way of contacting this up or is ther some sort of a converter ican get. I forgot to say that I have the 80iv2 cooler.

Cheers.

I have on order a usb 3 20 pin splitter cable. would this cable/converter you suggested work with this splitter cable?

I can't know as you did not specify a URL to tell me exactly what cable you have ordered.

Sorry I forgot to include the link to the usb 3.0 splitter that I have on order.

http://www.moddiy.com/products/20%252dPin-USB-3.0-Internal-Header-Y-Splitter-Cable-%2812cm%29.html

The cable I specified will plug into it, but I feel using the Y splitter at all is a bad idea. Looking at http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/331379-28-header-splitter it says:

DO NOT use these - UNLESS you only use one of the ports at a time. Plugging a device (type 2 or 3) in both ports will mess you up.

1) Both devices will try to signal the host as to type of device connected.

2) Both usb devices will try to ID themselves over the same port (this will really confuse the OS as to WHAT is plugged in.).

3) IF the stupid Y cable split out the two pair of superspeed channels then neither port will work at superspeed (ignoring all the OTHER electrical signaling problems) because superspeed requires BOTH channels to function. And when that failed, the mobo & devices will try to fall back to the original single usb 2 channel with it's pull-up resistor signaling. Where again two devices with interfere with each other.

TOTAL FAIL. !!

I'm not a hardware engineer, but AFAIK what be says about the hardware is correct. From the software side two devices using the same address/ID would cause issues.

I would recommend as internal USB 3.0 hub, similar to https://www.nzxt.com/products/iu01-usb-expansion but USB 3 rather than USB 2, however I don't know if anyone makes one.

Hi Red. Well the Splitter arived this morning. It looks to be well made and not overly sized either. I get yea regarding useing one device at a time. The onluy reason that I got it was to give me the option of using the cardreader and the oudio on the case. Iwasent planning on useing them all at once but I aupose you could esely make that mistake!

Thank you for the worning and intrest Red.

Cheers.

I suppose you could easily make that mistake!

Yes, that is what I suspect and I further suspect many would not realise that you should only use one port at a time.

Does the cable come with a warning what you should only use one port at a time? Ideally in big red letters so you don't miss it.

No longer being able to edit posts is not ideal, see http://forum.corsair.com/forums/showthread.php?p=853063. I hope others register their thoughts on this.
