What Memory Should I Buy?

Dear members,

I'm not a PC moder, so this is all new to me.

I'm looking to build a relatively high spec PC NOT for gaming, more for video editing and general use, so I'm looking for speed when it comes to exporting video/rendering etc in Premiere Pro for example or Camtasia.

I already have a motherboard, an Asus WS X299 SAGE-10G

Planning to get a CPU, the Intel i9 7980XE Extreme Edition 18 Core Unlocked CPU/Processor.

So the Motherboard supports 128gb of Ram,, might just go for 64, but then again, might just fill up the slots.

Looking at Corsair,,,,

Seen these 2, but I just don't know which is better/quicker/more stable for my situation.

DOMINATOR® PLATINUM 128GB (8 x 16GB) DDR4 DRAM 3200MHz C16 Memory Kit

£1,634.99 (Approx@Corsair)

Tested Latency 16-18-18-36

DOMINATOR® PLATINUM 128GB (8 x 16GB) DDR4 DRAM 2800MHz C14 Memory Kit

£1,524.99 (Here @ Corsair)

Tested Latency 14-16-16-31

DOMINATOR® PLATINUM 128GB (8 x 16GB) DDR4 DRAM 2666MHz C15 Memory Kit

£1379.99 (Approx @Corsair)

Tested Latency 15-17-17-35

Then I see memory called Vengeance (But has RGB lights built in), IE

VENGEANCE® RGB 128GB (8 x 16GB) DDR4 DRAM 3800MHz C19 Memory Kit

£1,694.99 (Approx @Corsair)

Tested Latency 19-19-19-39

The motherboard webpage (Hompage) says REGARDING MEMORY,

8 x DDR4 4200 MHz (OC) support

As said before, I'm not a gamer, so I don't really want to get into overclocking, just want the fastest/most stable memory.

I'm confused also with the test latency figures, I've tried to google it, but too much info,, confused from article to article on the web.

In plain english what's the fastest most stable numbers?

If anyone can give me some advice here It would be very much appreciated.

Many Thanks

TheGhost :-)

Go with the 128gb kit you like the most that is listed in the motherboard manual's QVL.

Many thanks for your reply Corsair Art,

I have downloaded their PDF for memory from their website,

https://dlsvr04.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/Socket2066/WS_X299_SAGE_10G/QVL/WS_X299_SAGE_10G_SkyLake_X_Memory_AVL_20180703.pdf

Ity is dated, 3rd July 2018

But only 3 mentions for Corsair 128GB ??

CORSAIR CMR128GX4M8C3000C16(Ver4.31)(XMP) 8x 16GB DS 16-18-18-36 v1.35

CORSAIR CMK128GX4M8A2666C16(Ver3.32)(XMP) 8x 16GB DS Micron 16-18-18-35 v1.2

CORSAIR CMK128GX4M8A2666C16(Ver5.39)(XMP) 8x 16GB DS SK Hynix 16-18-18-35 v1.2

??????????????????????????

Does that mean the others I mentioned originally aren't compatible with this motherboard?

I'm confused.

If anyone can clarify or explain why Asus only mention 3 128GB Corsair Memory modules are trusted I'd be all ears.

many thanks in advance
