phillyman36
Are there going to be any new cases this year(Corsair) with the 5.25 bay for optical drives? Seems every new case removed the bay for the optical drive. I have a UHD drive i still use. Bit disappointing for me.
Clar1ty
As for everything Corsair doesn’t comment on unreleased products. With the new tempered glass/rgb thing, new cases seem to ditch de 5.25 bay. But you can be always use a sata to usb converter to use it as external!

I had my old man get a USB3.0 writer, though he doesn't use it much. @OP - Optical drives are kind of dieing out as most of software can be easily put onto a USB thumb drive or download directly. I am guessing you like to watch Blue Ray Movies. They still sell cases with optical drives, though if they do come out with something with a 5.25" slot, I don't think it will be much different than anything currently out, maybe it might have a TG side panel? quango2k
Welcome to 2018. Optical is dead, its all about USB sticks and streaming.
Frank_M
M disk are supposed to last 1000 years. Perfect for archiving data. The negation of the 5.25 inch external drive is a mistake. I won't buy a case without one. Current case is a Corsair 750D.
CorePrime
No mistake, legacy device. I won't buy a case with one. Just like I don't want one in my car either. Now if motherboards would finally drop the PS/2 port...
