I CANNOT figure out how to get the ssd firmware to work on P128

I tried literally everthing under the sun such as the hp usb storage tool and the ms dos files you need to make a bootable usb to ms-dos. I tried formating the ssd under fat and fat 32 and so on even though i need to have it in fat format. i tried changing the boot order and it just says no os found. I just need a clear and concise STEP by STEP way to make a bootable ssd and put the frimware on the usb stick. Its just SO FRUSTRATING:mad:. I have a 4gb sony usb thumbdrive if that means anything.

Tried all of this to get the stick bootable?

ok I got the ultimate usb tool to work on the usb stick and was able to boot to free dos. Now, where do I unzip the firmware update on the usb stick since the ultimate usb bootable tool is already on there? do I have to put it in a special directory and once its on there how do I start the firmware update once im in free dos?

is anybody out there?

Extract all provided zip files to DOS bootable USB Drive.

(You should extract all files into root directory)

- It will create Autoexec.bat file and DSRD folder onto USB drive.

ok i dont see any root folder and I tried extracting it to just the G:\ on the thunmb drive and when I get to free-dos just the C:\ appears. Do I need to type in anything special?

oy vey... nope, when you boot from the stick your "g" drive becomes the "c" drive and the only thing you should have to do is hit enter to continue.

follow the guide to the letter (no pun intended) and you should be fine :):

by the way I followed that guide and extracted it to g:\ which already had the ultimate usb stick utility installed to it, rebooted it and NOTHING HAPPEND when I got to free dos.

if you dont see this as soon as it is done booting, you did it wrong.

by the way your no help at all Synthohol, I had to type in autoexec.bat at the c:\ prompt. you never said that nor did the guide said that. what does this mean?

its called autoexec because its supposed to execute automatically. that was my expectation.

thats why i kinda poked fun at the seemingly newb mistake. i apologize.

 

as far as the errors, i would unplug all drives except the SSD and try again. you may have to try different SATA ports until it works.

why am I getting the strange message after I start it then?

ok i tried all of the sata ports and unplugged all unnecessary usb things except for a keyboard and mouse no luck so far!

im just gonna rma it screw it this is WAY to much of a hassle

i meant the 2 caviars and your optical drive.

also forgot to ask, are you having any issues with the drive or just want to update it?

also you didnt specify your current firmware level, it may already be ver 2.0?

i removed all the drives also beside the p128

i just want to update so that I can use trim, im getting some pausing and slowdown (ive had it for about a year)

its the OLD firmware that doesnt support trim

any help on the error so far?

Corsair is closed for another 12 hours, im sure this thread will get attention tomorrow.

I guess no one has had this error before. Oh well
