The hardware I have is Asus Prime Deluxe x299, Intel i7-7800x and Corsair Dominator 3600 MHz 2x8 GB (cmd16gx4m2b3600c18). My problem is that the processor I've read uses Quad Channel while I have a Dual Channel. My motherboard's compatibility list contains the RAMs I use for quad-core processors, while in the hexa-core that I have included the 4x4 GB model. emissary42 Posted February 3, 2018 Share Posted February 3, 2018 Quad Channel offers a significant performance adavantage over dual channel for platforms that support it, so it is usually worth it to get a quad kit to utilize that (even you have to sacrifice a bit of memory frequency for that). You can definitely try, but I can't ever recommend it that way. As much as it'd be nice to have a 32,64 or 128gb to start off with it's not really always possible so I understand the thought behind buying another kit later but I've seen many more users having issues this way.
