i7-980x
Hello all! Okay, I recently picked up a 12GB kit of Vengeance DDR3. I have an asus p6t deluxe with the latest bios. When I overclock either the BLK FREQ and it auto raises the DRAM freq or just bump up the DRAM freq by itself... Any speed over 1790MHZ shows 4GB in the BIOS and in windows. If the DRAM speed is under 1790MHZ it shows the correct amount of 12GB. Am I missing something? Much appreciated.

i7-980x
Thanks yellowbeard I took a look at it. I have a new issue now. I picked up a rampage III formula board, and I exchanged the memory. With this board I noticed that I can't get the memory to show 12GB at its rated speed of 1600mhz. When I try 1333mhz it will show 12GB. If i try 9-9-9-24 2t @ 1.55V for 1600mhz it will only show 4-8GB. When I play around with the qpi/dram settings it then shows 8GB. Why do I need to play around with settings to get this memory to run at its rated speed? I have to bump the dram voltage in upwards of 1.62 just to show 8GB at 1600mhz for memory that only needs 1.5v for 1600mhz. Do I need to replace the motherboard? Corsair Employee RAM GUY Posted February 17, 2011 Corsair Employee Share Posted February 17, 2011 What happens if you load setup defaults and reboot? Does it show the full 12 Gig? And what happens if you then enable XMP and reboot, does it still show the full 12 Gig?
ritaylor
Well, not to butt in, but you say you have the same problem with two motherboards. If you're using the same cpu, it seems to me that the IMC on that chip is the problem. Just my .
Yupster_2501
I had a similar issue with CMP12GX3M3A1600C9 on my Rampage III Formula, set the XMP profile for 1600mhz and then manually set the tRFC to 88, on mine it would default to 76 and it would only see 8GB
