Scimitar Side Button Problems

corruptedfiend

Recommended Posts

Bought my Scimitar yesterday and after I set it all up I realized that the extra buttons aren't working 100% of the time.

First off I set the 12 side buttons to be 1 threw = on the keyboard, but that didn't work. So I decided to look up a profile to just import, which I did, but that did not work either.

( This is profile

)

Another thing to note is that when I remapped the two top buttons ( near mouse wheel ) to page forward and page back they didn't work, they only work if I have them at the default ( DPI cycle ).

I tried to uninstalled/reinstall CUE, restart computer, change USB port, and it still is not working.

I'm kind of lost on what to do next. I searched this forum, reddit, and google and nothing seems to work.

Fixed- Ran the repair from the install

This bug has been around for a while, they fixed several things that caused it and I don't have it anymore myself. I encountered it 3-4 times before.

Unfortunately it seems that there are still some rare cases of it and you seem to be one of them, as far as I know they are still trying to track down what exactly the issue is. It could be a program you have installed, a piece of hardware or something else. Submit a ticket with Corsair's support so that they can help and guide you in troubleshooting the issue and hopefully fix it.

Have had this problem since I got it, many months ago.

I'd say about every 1 in 6 times my PC comes out of sleep my back/forward and 12 side buttons do NOT work. right/left click do however.

I have been dealing with it by hitting "repair" in the control panel on CUE. Restarting also works.

Nonetheless, it annoys the crap out of me. Going to attach a log, hope it helps.

edit - cant seem to attach anything, so ill quote it.

Also worth noting-

I have my scimitar plugged into a USB hub, a cheap one. Did not have the issue with my Naga however, or other peripherals. Bought a better one, will be trying that. Also, going to try directly plugging in the scimitar to my PC, in different USB slots. I'd presume I tried that already though, I just don't remember, it has been so long.

Can post more logs if needed.

When the side buttons don't work.

Open Device Manager and expand Human Interface Devices. Do you see Corsair composite virtual input device as an entry?

Yes, it is listed. They just stopped working again and this time I had it in my PC USB 2.0 slot, so I guess it doesn't make a difference. Attached another log.

It could be a faulty mouse.

You can request an RMA to replace the mouse via Corsair.

https://corsair.secure.force.com/

You may be eligible for a prepaid label as the mouse is less than 30 days old. You will need to contact customer service to request it though.

It's possible, but unlikely.

I did return one already, it had the exact same issue, in addition the 4 and 7 buttons would stick.

I might try the support ticket system, although I suspect they will just run me through the basics that I have tried already and I prefer not to provide my phone number and address etc. that they require.

thx for the help btw =)

------

One new development, the buttons can start working again if I let my pc fall asleep while they are currently NOT working. It's seemingly completely random.

No dice unfortunately.

I bought a new USB hub a couple days ago with its own power adapter; my old one just used the USB power. This one keeps my peripherals powered, even while my PC is asleep and may or may not be having an effect. Since I got it, it seems that my PC can enter sleep mode more times without the scimitar buttons going AWOL. However, I have had good luck streaks before, so I can't confirm anything.

Sad thing is, I've gotten so used to testing my binds in a browser or something before I start my games. Sucks so bad when you get caught with nonworking buttons lol. The physical design of this mouse is so much better for me than others I have tried, so I put up with it.

EDIT - Just noticed that a CUE 2 is in the works and out of beta now apparently. Think that is probably my best shot at this point.
