pumuckl
Is a new OS installation the same as having the TRIM command clear the written cells? I want to reinstall Windows XP on that 4 month old X64 SSD. Or is there a way to low-level format a drive to have that effect. Chris
PrObE
In order to reset the drive back to factorystate you will have to do a secure erase, one that do the job well is parted magic. "Just" reformatting and reinstalling does not bring and SSD back to factorystate. And btw, TRIM is ONLY supported by WIN 7, NOT XP. Corsair Employee RAM GUY Posted April 23, 2010 Corsair Employee Share Posted April 23, 2010 I have posted this several times on how to restore performance. I would suggest using Accronis to make and image of the drive (if you are using Windows) then use Parted magic to Wipe the drive under tools select Erase Disk and Secure Erase and then, install the drive on the system you will be using it as a second HDD and format it with the QUICK Option Only and 32k Allocation then test it with Atto again to be sure its running properly then delete the partition and image the drive back to its original image and you are done.
