Mnpctech.com
My good friend, Daz asked me to modify his new Corsair 700D case. He'll be using his customized 700D case for video tutorials and demonstrations on installing water cooling products on his YouTube Channel http://www.mnpctech.3dpixelnet.com/picture_library/dazmode_corsair_700_800_case_mod_window1.jpg http://www.mnpctech.3dpixelnet.com/picture_library/dazmode_mnpctech_shop3.jpg Before work can commence, I need tunes.. "You ain't nuthing but a Hound Dog, modding all the time." http://www.mnpctech.3dpixelnet.com/picture_library/dazmode_corsair_700_800_case_mod_window2.jpg Always Measure Once and Cut Twice? er, something like that.... http://www.mnpctech.3dpixelnet.com/picture_library/dazmode_mnpctech_shop2.jpg Dew with a touch of Engine Enamel to fuel my after Midnight modding.. "say wha?" http://www.mnpctech.3dpixelnet.com/picture_library/dazmode_corsair_700_800_case_mod_window3.jpg Power tools are for making sparks, not building things. http://www.mnpctech.3dpixelnet.com/picture_library/dazmode_corsair_700_800_case_mod_window3b.jpg Hey, I was the FIRST! to implement the "box technique" for cutting panels. No fuss, no mess. http://www.mnpctech.3dpixelnet.com/picture_library/dazmode_corsair_700_800_case_mod_window4.jpg Hmm, I could smuggle a lot of stuff over the Canadian border in this case http://www.mnpctech.3dpixelnet.com/picture_library/dazmod.com_watercooling_guide2.jpg Daz: "Enuf of the comedy routine Bill, I need that case finished so can I test with my new water blocks!" Ok, Daz, how about I toss in some goodies that you can use with your project?! http://www.mnpctech.com/carbonfiber_gunmetal_titanium_mnpctech.com2.jpg Di-Noc film just arrived, http://www.mnpctech.com/CarbonFiber_Gunmetal_Titanium.html http://www.mnpctech.com/ATX_Molex_Removal_Tools.html http://www.mnpctech.com/24_pin_PCI_ATX_PSU_power_supply_sleeve_removal_tool_extractor.jpg http://www.mnpctech.com/molex_pin_male_female_sleeve_tool_extractor.jpg http://www.mnpctech.3dpixelnet.com/picture_library/dazmode_corsair_700_800_case_mod_window5.jpg http://www.mnpctech.3dpixelnet.com/picture_library/dazmode_corsair_700_800_case_mod_fan_grill3.jpg Even though the "DazMode" PC will be water cooled, it's important to minimize any air restrictions for the radiator cooling fans. Corsair's factory honeycomb perforated grills do allow decent airflow, but I can make performance even better by removing them altogether. http://www.mnpctech.3dpixelnet.com/picture_library/dazmode_corsair_700_800_case_mod_fan_grill1.jpg The perforated factory rear fan grill on the 700D. http://www.mnpctech.3dpixelnet.com/picture_library/dazmode_corsair_700_800_case_mod_fan_grill2.jpg Using Tin-snips to remove center portion of the rear honeycomb factory grill. http://www.mnpctech.3dpixelnet.com/picture_library/dazmode_corsair_700_800_case_mod_fan_grill5.jpg The most efficient way to remove the rear grill is with a Greenlee Knock out Punch. It's made by Greenlee, part # 730EBB-120. It cuts a perfect 120mm hole without any mess. Last time I inquired, they were around $450 in the states, plus you need a 3/4" socket wrench, and 2" socket. Estimated purchase price of everything is $550 new. I wouldn't use anything less than 19" long socket wrench. http://www.mnpctech.3dpixelnet.com/picture_library/dazmode_corsair_700_800_case_mod_fan_grill6.jpg The Greenlee's circular blade cuts through the steel as it's drawn tighter with the socket wrench. http://www.mnpctech.3dpixelnet.com/picture_library/dazmode_corsair_700_800_case_mod_fan_grill4.jpg http://www.performance-pcs.com/catalog/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=59_362_540&products_id=26960&zenid=a8d0748d5a78ad492c5ff6f6d7fd403c will be Anodized Black http://www.mnpctech.3dpixelnet.com/picture_library/dazmode_mnpctech_shop7.jpg I thought about using this 120mm Billet SKULL fan grills, but it's really not Daz' style. So they are waiting for another project... http://www.mnpctech.3dpixelnet.com/picture_library/dazmode_corsair_700_800_case_mod_fan_grill7.jpg The insert of the 120mm can be manually rotated for whatever look you want. http://www.mnpctech.3dpixelnet.com/picture_library/dazmode_corsair_700_800_case_mod_paint9.jpg Use 1/8" drill bit for removing the factory rivets and replacing with Black rivets, http://www.mnpctech.com/Pop_rivets_for_computer_case.html http://www.mnpctech.3dpixelnet.com/picture_library/dazmode_corsair_700_800_case_mod_paint9a.jpg http://www.mnpctech.3dpixelnet.com/picture_library/dazmode_corsair_700_800_case_mod_paint9e.jpg The chassis of the 700D will remain Matte Black to offset the new Tangelo Orange exterior. http://www.mnpctech.3dpixelnet.com/picture_library/dazmode_corsair_700_800_case_mod_paint9f.jpg Primer coat applied to the top panel. http://www.mnpctech.3dpixelnet.com/picture_library/dazmode_corsair_700_800_case_mod_paint9l.jpg House of Kolor Tangelo Orange. http://www.mnpctech.3dpixelnet.com/picture_library/dazmode_corsair_700_800_case_mod_paint9j.jpg Brad applies Orange base coat. http://www.mnpctech.3dpixelnet.com/picture_library/dazmode_corsair_700_800_case_mod_paint9k.jpg The next stage will be Tangelo Orange. http://www.mnpctech.3dpixelnet.com/picture_library/dazmode_corsair_700_800_case_mod_paint9h.jpg After applying Tangelo Orange. acavella
Love the color! Quick question for you. I used to piece of thin sheet metal to fabricate a 90° "duct" to bring cool air from one of my 120mm's to my rad. Currently it is just "aluminum" in color and it looks like **** in the case. I am going to paint it a flat black so it blends in and isn't very noticeable. Any recommendations on paint? I am stuck between some matte black automotive paint and some matte black engine block paint. Any thoughts on what would be more durable, better coverage etc... I'm leaning towards the engine block paint.
Mnpctech.com
1. Scuff it with Medium grit sandpaper 2. Apply "Self Etching" as base coat, (primer for bare metal!) 3. Apply Plastikote brand Engine Enamel 5. Let it cure for at least a week, if air drying in 68 - 72 temp F. When was the last time you had seen an Orange PC? ..Exactly. http://www.mnpctech.3dpixelnet.com/picture_library/dazmode_corsair_700_800_case_mod_lambo.jpg This photo of a Lamborghini Diablo GT with "Arancio Borealis" paint, which is a factory two layer peal metallic paint is what inspired Daz color choice. Once I told him how much the overpriced factory paint was to have made, the HoK Tangelo Orange sounded like a better alternative. http://www.mnpctech.3dpixelnet.com/picture_library/dazmode_corsair_700_800_case_mod_paint2z.jpg The Corsair 700D's right side access panel with brilliant gloss finish. I just wished we had a sunny day, dammit! I wanted to bring the panel outside and see the pearl in the paint dance under sunlight. Photo Update Daz is considering different layouts for the front control panels.
