M65 Mouse not recognized

I'm having a great deal of trouble getting the firmware and software for my M65 mouse to recognize that it's plugged in.

First off, I've plugged it into every type of USB port I can find (2.0, 3.0, various different computers). But every time I run the firmware utility, it says: "Cannot open USB device, please plug the device into a USB port or reinstall driver!"

I've also tried following the directions here: http://forum.corsair.com/v3/showthread.php?t=104856 but when I get to step 3, there is no "KBD BOOT LOADER". And when I right click the "Corsair M65 RGB Gaming Mouse" and select properties>hardware, there's a huge list of entries (and 2 HID-COMPLIANT MOUSEs).

In short, I don't know if the mouse itself is defective or the firmware utility. Given the need for a stickied thread on this forum, I'm leaning towards it being a software issue (as my Windows 7 x64 seems to identify the mouse by name perfectly). I'm wondering if I should exchange the mouse at Best Buy or seek some other solution.

Thanks for any help!

Well, I called into Corsair's tech support. The guy wasn't all that helpful (he told me to try another computer, which I said I had) and then return it. I have a sneaking suspicion that exchanging the mouse for a new one is going to fix nothing. But oh well, it's all I got left.

Don't kick yourself too much. There have been several improper links that take you to the old M65 instead of the new M65 RGB. The new RGB line uses a completely different line of software, which is also something to consider if you have one of the prior keyboards.

Thsi will certainly happen again, so for anyone else who stumbles upon this, make sure your download is the Corsair Utility Engine. It is one program, not a 'firmware utility updater' and 'software package'. You update the firmware from within the program. If you are reading PDF's about firmware corruption, you have the old M65 package. The correct link is listed above, and below...

you want to be using CUE, it's in one of the sticky threads.

Sorry I don't think I understand a whole lot, which thread do you mean? This one? http://forum.corsair.com/forums/showthread.php?t=134450&highlight=CUE

I'm sorry I don't really use forums very often and I'm just super confused. This says to go to settings but settings in what?

Here is my problem. My mouse is plugged in, all of its functions work, the dpi button on the sides and the sensetivity buttons on top, and it lights up and everything. The problem is that I want to change the color and some of the button maping and all of that jazz but I need the software, when I run the software it says that my mouse is not plugged in. I have been all over the forum to the best of my abilities and I have no idea how to fix it. Please help, i dropped a fair amount of money trying to get this mouse quickly just to find out that the main reason I got it, doesn't even funtion.

I tried that, the download page is the same page I got the original file that isnt working though. I go to Download, select gaming mice then download the Vengence m65 firmware software file but when I try to run it I get a pop up saying my mouse isn't plugged in.

Hi I thought id tag onto this thread instead of opening a new one.

I've got the M65 Vengeance (so none RGB) for some reason it worked fine the other day carried out some Windows 7 updates (which caused me some other issues) now none of the usb ports will find my mouse? I downloaded the installer and it can't find it either?

Does the mouse work fine? e.g. sensor, mouse clicks, etc.

If the mouse isn't seen on two pcs, but it still works, try this;

http://forum.corsair.com/v3/showthread.php?t=104856

It worked fine on Saturday and then yesterday nothing. Doesn't light up or anything now. Will check out the link and see if it helps. Thanks for the quick response appreciate things to try.

To jump on the band wagon, I have bought a m65, though it was described as a manufacturer refurbished one. It has the LED's and is currently going through rainbow mode, however, it is not detected in the corsair utility Engine, (downloaded CORSAIR Utility Engine (CUE) Software 2.23.40 | 02/12/18) for the M65 RGB and the RGB Pro. I have read that this is the only piece of software, is this correct?

This is a very odd issue as the M65 requires the software to recognize the mouse to output the rainbow profile. Can you upload a screenshot of your CUE screen?

In the mean time, double check that the mouse is showing up properly in your Printers and Devices window with no errors.

For some reason.. the mouse has come up as a corsair K9 RGB Gaming Keyboard... when it is actually a M65 Gaming mouse. o.o

I have a similar issue , I have the M65 RGB Pro and the correct software ( CUE ) When I plug in the mouse it lights up but wont move the cursor , I had a Steel series mouse that the scroll wheel went wacky on me , very frustrating when trying to scroll windows and cycling weapons etc. Anyway I tried using my old mouse and it wouldn't work at all which it was before just had a clicking issue, so back to the Steel Series mouse. So today I decided to go and buy a new mouse and bought the M65 Pro RGB because I already have the K55 RGB keyboard so why not have matching stuff right ? Well The mouse wont work but lights up . So , what's the deal ? Also tried more than 1 USB port too no luck . and just shows up in the device mgr. as an HID compliant mouse on Corsair composite virtual input device . I even uninstalled ALL of the mouse's and tried connecting the M65 and let it install alone by itself and no luck .
