michilumin
So, ever since v2.5.5145 I've been trying to get newer versions of Corsair Link to run. I've pretty much just quietly tried each release but at this point i'm tired of it never working. I have an h80i, and I've tried v2.6.5124, v2.7.5361, v3.1.5525 and v3.1.5570. Each time, everything installs fine, but when Corsair Link tries to run, it simply exits. No error dialogue or anything. But this is left in the Event Log of Windows 8.1 x64: -- Log Name: Application Source: Corsair Link Date: 5/24/2015 5:41:47 PM Event ID: 0 Task Category: None Level: Error Keywords: Classic User: N/A Computer: insomnia-PC Description: System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException (0x80040154): Class not registered (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80040154 (REGDB_E_CLASSNOTREG)) at System.Runtime.InteropServices.Marshal.ThrowExceptionForHRInternal(Int32 errorCode, IntPtr errorInfo) at System.Runtime.InteropServices.Marshal.ThrowExceptionForHR(Int32 errorCode) at System.Management.ManagementEventWatcher.Start() at CorsairLink.DeviceHandler..ctor() at CorsairLink.SingleInstanceController.OnCreateMainForm() at Microsoft.VisualBasic.ApplicationServices.WindowsFormsApplicationBase.OnRun() at Microsoft.VisualBasic.ApplicationServices.WindowsFormsApplicationBase.DoApplicationModel() at Microsoft.VisualBasic.ApplicationServices.WindowsFormsApplicationBase.Run(String[] commandLine) at CorsairLink.Program.Main() Event Xml: <Event xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/win/2004/08/events/event"> <System> <Provider Name="Corsair Link" /> <EventID Qualifiers="0">0</EventID> <Level>2</Level> <Task>0</Task> <Keywords>0x80000000000000</Keywords> <TimeCreated SystemTime="2015-05-24T23:41:47.000000000Z" /> <EventRecordID>1191774</EventRecordID> <Channel>Application</Channel> <Computer>insomnia-PC</Computer> <Security /> </System> <EventData> <Data>System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException (0x80040154): Class not registered (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80040154 (REGDB_E_CLASSNOTREG)) at System.Runtime.InteropServices.Marshal.ThrowExceptionForHRInternal(Int32 errorCode, IntPtr errorInfo) at System.Runtime.InteropServices.Marshal.ThrowExceptionForHR(Int32 errorCode) at System.Management.ManagementEventWatcher.Start() at CorsairLink.DeviceHandler..ctor() at CorsairLink.SingleInstanceController.OnCreateMainForm() at Microsoft.VisualBasic.ApplicationServices.WindowsFormsApplicationBase.OnRun() at Microsoft.VisualBasic.ApplicationServices.WindowsFormsApplicationBase.DoApplicationModel() at Microsoft.VisualBasic.ApplicationServices.WindowsFormsApplicationBase.Run(String[] commandLine) at CorsairLink.Program.Main()</Data> </EventData> </Event> -- Log Name: Application Source: .NET Runtime Date: 5/24/2015 5:41:47 PM Event ID: 1026 Task Category: None Level: Error Keywords: Classic User: N/A Computer: insomnia-PC Description: Application: CorsairLink.exe Framework Version: v4.0.30319 Description: The process was terminated due to an unhandled exception. If I roll back to 2.5.5145, everything's fine. This seems to be a .NET issue obviously but, i'm not seeing .NET issues with any other programs. Anyone have any idea at all? Other threads I'm reading seem to say that if you have an h80i, this is just Corsair Link not supporting it anymore. If that's the case, can Corsair verify? I'd like to not waste days on this if I'm stuck with running v2.5.5145.
wytnyt
If 5145 works for you, what are you trying to gain by upgrading? Each version fixes one area but may cause issues elsewhere due to unique build configurations...
michilumin
DPC latency spikes that occurred in versions up until (I believe) v2.7. I have the DPC latency issue when CL is running, (goes away when it's not running) but can't get the versions that supposedly fix this to run. red-ray
DPC latency spikes that occurred in versions up until (I believe) v2.7. I have the DPC latency issue when CL is running, (goes away when it's not running) but can't get the versions that supposedly fix this to run. They may be meant to, but on this W7 x64 x79 system 3.1.5570 has DPC latency issues as you can see below. The spikes stopped when I exited CL. I suspect later versions of CL fix the DPC latency issue for some systems, but not on others. My SIV utility could be used to control your H80i and I do not see regular DPC latencies on this x79 system, though sometimes there is one of about 3ms on SIV start-up. See http://forum.corsair.com/forums/showthread.php?t=140665. I addressed DPC latencies in SIV V4.49 released on 14-Nov-2014 and know that similar changes were made to the CPUID SDK (which is used by CL) around the same time. BTW I suspect you PC Specs should say x79 rather than x78.
