570x Top Radiator Clearance

Recommended Posts

Hello, I was wondering if it would be possible to have a top mounted 240mm AIO on the 570x and how much clearance I would need. I will be using the Maximus XI Hero, Corsair Vengeance Pro Ram, and the Ryujin 240 from Asus (I have my reasons). Also, I was wondering if it would be a better option to front mount a 360mm rad and have 2 layers of 3 fans as an intake there? Thanks!

Short answer is yes, a 240mm radiator will fit in the top of the 570x. The bottom of a 27-30mm radiator + 25mm fan will be just slightly below the top edge of the motherboard.

The second question is going to be top mount 240mm vs front mount 360mm vs 240mm front mount. No matter what you decide, it should not have a major impact on case functionality. They key deciding points are: 1) a 360mm have twice the surface area of a 240mm cooler. While neither cooler will be a limiting factor in what your CPU can do (voltage is the limiting factor), a 360mm should allow you keep very low fan speeds 1300 rpm or below and still dissipate a massive amount of heat. The 240 can do the same, but will require more fan speed to do so. 2) Front mount vs top mount -> the physical location likely saves you 2C as the top layer of the case is the warmest. The 360mm has to go in front. The 240 can go either place. You might also want to look at some pictures (or google image the case) to see how a 240mm looks up top. Sometimes I feel it is a little top heavy looking, but this is very subjective.

There a ton of threads on this. Here are just two.
