duttory
Whats single stick of Corsair 8GB DDR3 ram draws less Power??? Gonna use a ASUS P5K3 Deluxe board with a Intel Dual-Core E5200 2.5GHz FSB800, no overclocking or anything. Is it better to use a PC12800/1600MHz memory then a 1066/1333 because of timings? Yellowbeard
It won't matter what RAM you use if you are not OCing with respect to power. For that board, you definitely should get a 1066/1333 kit or module.
duttory
So any 2.0 volt memory is just as fine as a 1.25 volt ?
Yellowbeard
At the same voltage, yes. 1.5v is 1.5v regardless of what the memory is rated at.
duttory
If I have two 8GB 1333 memory sticks to choose from, one is 2.0 volt and the other one is 1.5 volt, does the 1.5 volt memory draw less power then the 2.0 ???
Wired
P=IV, so assuming the same current, lower voltage = lower power.
duttory
ok, last question, will this corsair memory (CMZ8GX3M1A1600C10) work on my old ASUS P5K3 Deluxe board with a Dual-Core E5200 2.5GHz FSB800 ? no overclocking
Corsair Employee RAM GUY Posted April 9, 2012 Corsair Employee Share Posted April 9, 2012 That MB will not support 8 Gig modules, the Intel chipset used on that MB only supports memory made with 256M X 8 Memory IC's so 4.0 gig double rank modules are the only modules you can use with that MB.
