Dog_531
Hi, I just upgraded my to some TWIN2X4096-8500C5 1066mhz memory, unfortunatley my motherboard/processor(Gigabyte MA-770 DS3 2.0)/AMD Athlon 64 x2 5200+)would like it to run at a mere 800Mhz. Do the recommended 5-5-5-15 timings and 2.1 Voltage still apply when running at 800mhz? I read that 1066 memory when used on my motherboard should be installed on seperate channels, does that still apply at 800mhz? Also do you have opinion on whether it would be worth changing from using Xp pro 32bit to Xp 64bit in order to use the full 4Gb of RAM, and perhaps using my old 2x512mb 4-4-4-12 800mhz RAM too, presumably at the slower timings and making 5gb in total? Thanks for your help :)
Corsair Employee RAM GUY Posted April 8, 2009 Corsair Employee Share Posted April 8, 2009 I would not suggest mixing memory, just use the new modules and if you do not over clock the CPU you can try setting them to Cas 4-4-4-12 at 2.1 Volts 2T C/R but test with http://www.memtest.org to be sure it is stable. Dog_531
Thanks RAM Guy, I'll give that a try. Does it matter at 800mhz whether i use the same coloured slots ie. 1&2, or should I continue using separate channels ie. slots 1&3?
Corsair Employee RAM GUY Posted April 13, 2009 Corsair Employee Share Posted April 13, 2009 Yes it may, please check the manual for the correct slots to use but normally it will be slots 1-2 with Gigabyte.
