keerf
Hey Everyone, Quick question regarding the base plate of the H100i. I had to go through a few thermal re-applications, was trying out some different thermal material etc. I'm also this weekend going to be swapping processors in my build, which means another cleaning etc. I noticed last night there are some scratches on the copper plate. I've tried to be as gentle as possible when removing grease with a napkin and Artic Silver compound remover. Will the scratches work against me in the long run for cooling? Or is it just surface imperfections. Thanks All!
Keith Myers
Unless they are Grand Canyon scale deep scratches, no it doesn't matter. That is what the thermal paste is for. It fills in any surface imperfections to couple the IHS to the cooler baseplate.
