scojer
I recently built a new system. My first one in years. All was working well until I updated my system and decided to run the RAM at the advertised speed. I purchased a Gigabyte GA-AX370-Gaming 5 and Corsair Vengeance RGB RAM: CMR16GX4M2C3000C15 It worked until I switched the RAM from the default of 2133 to run at 3000. Now it won't post. The reason I want to know if I can reset the RAM, is because the LED colors on them won't go back to the default rainbow effect which I assume it should if the bios was really reset, right? They stay the same color in every slot. One is blue the other orange. The fact they're not going back to the rainbow makes me think they are still trying to run at the speed which won't let it post, and have remembered that value. scojer
Nevermind. I plugged the RAM into a friend's computer. It kept the colors but his booted fine. It isn't the RAM that is the issue. I plugged it back into mine and nothing.
Hockster2
You need to reset your BIOS. The RAM doesn't remember anything, it relies on the motherboard to tell it what speed to run at.
scojer
Then why would the LEDs be the same color in a different system?
Hockster2
Link controls the colors and patterns. There's probably a default color until the software takes over.
