vkruglikov
Dear RAM Guy and friends, This is an urgent request, as my return period is almost over. I'm new to PC assembly, so please bear with me... I recently bought an Intel motherboard D865GLC with Pentium-4 2.6GHz. I also bought the 1Gb TWINX XMS3200 (two CMX512 - 3200LLPT) based on its performance characteristics, unaware of possible compatibility issues that might arise. Sure enough, they did arise -- when I assembled the PC and installed Windows-XP, the system would experience frequent, sudden shutdowns -- just drops dead, no shut-down sequence or anything (I upgraded the BIOS, tested for Blaster virus and insalled all the patches, etc. to no avail). I subsequently tested with borrowed, lower-end memory from a different maker, and the problems went away. So, can I salvage the memory that I already bought -- 1Gb TWINX XMS3200 (two CMX512 - 3200LLPT)? If so, what are the appropriate BIOS settings? If not, which 1Gb memory should I buy for my Intel D865GLC motherboard (with P4 2.6 GHz) ? I wasn't planning on overclocking, just wanted something that would work out of the box. Best regards, Vitaly

vkruglikov
Thank you, RAM GUY! I am beginning to suspect the MB or the power supply of being flaky, and will try the mem in another MB. Vitaly
vkruglikov
Returned the D865GLC motherboard, which was defective. Replaced with ASUS P4C800, and the system (including Corsair Twinx LLPT) is working fine. Thanks for your excellent support. Vitaly
