Voyager Air 1TB and Mac OS X 10.9.2 connects as Guest

Greetings,

Just recently bought the Corsair Voyager Air 1TB. Connected it via RJ45 connector to my wireless router. I was able to successfully Password Protect via the Voyager Air App (using my wife's iPhone).

Are the following scenarios normal?

1) I was able to connect to my VoyagerAir via my wireless router from my Win7 laptop with read/write access without it prompting me for a password. I added it as a Mapped drive.

2) I was able to connect to my VoyagerAir via my wireless router from my MacBook Pro (with OS X 10.9.2) with read/write access without it prompting for a password. I modified, via Finder, the Preferences on my MacBook to view Connected Servers. I am new to Mac, so I guess the connection is somewhat of an NFS share connection using the GUEST account.

From a security perspective should I be concerned? Is the password protection only for direct wireless connections to the VoyagerAir?
