Chattering 4th Keyboard already

so at the start of 2016 i bought a k70 rgb mx red and that worked great for like 1/2 to 1 year.

eventually i got so annoyed by the double keystrokes or sometimes not at all working keys, that i sent the k70 back to were i got it (not sure if i can say that i bought it on amazon, if not i´ll edit that out). they didnt have anymore k70 mx red and i decided to get the k70 lux mx red.

turns out that was the worst idea ever.

first one had chatterin after maybe week, i returned that one instantly.

second one atleast lasted around a month maybe, returned that one.

third one didnt really work much longer, i was just so sick of sending my keyboard back all the time that i kept it until now.

all started with one single key, then it spread to other keys and eventually over half of the keyboard became basically useless.

i cant even imagine how someone would be able to screw up so many nearly 200€ keyboards. i just cant.

but apparently thats possible.

i was about to send this one back today and just get my money back to buy a different keyboard, but decided to check if there are other people with such a strugle with their k70.

i actually dont know what i expect to get out of this post.

i lost all hope to ever get a k70 that actually works, but maybe i'm wrong and there is a possibility.

so i guess the question is if i can get a replacement through corsair directly and if the chance of a working keyboard is bigger this way.

sorry for any double letters caused by chattering and the not usage of shift simply because it is not working correctly.

I've had the same issues and this is my second K70. The second one started to play up after one month of use, just like yours did (same edition, only I am using browns). All I was told on here is that this keyboard uses Cherry keys which are supposed to be awesome. I disagree and going by the number of problems people experience with these keyboards I can only conclude that it's a gimmick.

My advice.

Avoid Gaming mechanical keyboards in general and go to a more reputable company who specialises in mechanical keyboards, or just find a decent membrane one.

I would use key hitter and test the keyboard on another computer and make sure it's the keyboard and not the computer that's causing the issue. The chances of getting 4 defective keyboards are extremely low.

And did you ever RMA with Corsair. Or did you return all the keyboard so Amazon?

So wwhy do they work OK for a short period when new? After a month, you push down and you get a W, you release you get another WW. <--this is what it's like and on a number of keys.

Other than RAM, I have had a 100% fault rate on all Corsair produucts. These include a mouse (m65rgb with faulty wheel+middle button) a closed loop cooler which started rattling and causing the CPU to overheat (pump failure) and two K70s in a row.

Sorry to hear about your experience OP but 4 keyboards in a row having the same key chatter issue is highly unlikely. There are few things that you can try to see if its really the KB or something else that's causing the chatter. If you have a different KB, try it and see if the issue goes away. OR try a different system and see if the problem will follow.

We can always get that KB replaced for you via RMA using this link, https://corsair.secure.force.com/home/home.jsp

yeah well i obviously testet a different keyboard and those keyboards on a different pc.

so i could be sure its the keyboard before i have to send it back 3 times.

and i would say it is pretty unlikely that i manage to cause 3 keyboards to chatter in less than a week. how would anyone do that

and no i did not rma it over corsair...amazon sent me a new one and i sent mine back.

thats why i was wondering if anybody experienced similar problems or the amazon corsair keyboard stock just sucks :D

guess i will try the corsair rma...do you guys send a new keyboard first too, so i dont have to sit here without one ?

You will have to send yours to them and then they will send you another one. You will have to pay for the cost of shipping yours back to them. My last one was RMA'd directly to Corsair. The good news is that it didn't take long for the replacement to arrive. The bad news you already know.

Do you live in a super humid area? Have you tried blowing compressed air into the switch?

No, it's quite dry. I also keep it covered to try and prevent dust build up when not in use. I have tried a few tricks to see if it works, and sometimes it does appear to give a temporary solution. I know the switches work with a threshold that the KB bios is supposed to work with. I suspect some of these switches may end up outside of this threshold range after a little use. I am now at the point where I am willing to sacrifice any response times/speed, real or imagined, just so it can try and resemble an ordinary keyboard. I must admit, even using a very cheap membrane keyboard didn't lose me an edge in gaming.

Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

If your willing to let them put a hold on your account you can get the keyboard sent to you first.

ok i now managed to get an RMA number...that took them two trys too btw...only to find out that you not only need a creditcard to not be without a keyboard, but i also have to pay for the shipping ?

so i buy a keyboard for freaking 170€ and i still have to pay if it is faulty ?

guess i'll just return it to amazon again to get my money back and buy a different keyboard.

thanks for the replies anyways

Dear Corsair!

Some of my Corsair Strafe RGB keys began to chatter too after about 6-8 month of use. So maybe i'm going to RMA it but i don't really want to because nothing guarantees me that the next keyboard won't chatter again. I am using the newest firmware (2.05), set the keyboard already to 125Hz and cleaned the keys with a drop of alcohol. It just helped for some days. Meanwhile i am using the "Keyboard Chattering Fix" - Tool which filters out the chattering while on the desktop but the filter doesn't work for games which detect the keystrokes by raw input or DirectX. So i am asking myself if it isn't possible to add a chatter filter into the firmware or the CUE software. There are so many posts of people complaining about this problem with those cherry switches. So, Corsair what do you suggest to as solution (without RMA'ing every chattering keyboard ?

I really like the Corsair Strafe RGB but the chattering is annoying !!!

I think i found a solution for this issue (not 100% sure but i'll test some more games): Play your games in Windowed Mode instead of Fullscreen in combination with Keychatter Fix and voila no more chatter.... :D::p:
