Gray__Fox
Hi all, I just bought a new PSU for a new PC build I plan on doing. The HX850i. Well to make sure everything was running fine I plugged it into my older PC It seemed to work fine enough, until I popped in a game and was getting significantly less frames, and erratic frames at that. After some searching I saw someone say they saw a similar issue on a laptop and the PSU was the issue so I decided to plug in my old PSU and see. Well the issues all disappeared again. (old one is a 1k watt). After some looking this is what I found. https://s18.postimg.org/jmd4ud6fd/NODE_w_Corsair.jpg This NODE.exe is running and terminating constantly when this PSU is installed. This goes on until the computer is rebooted then starts over. https://s17.postimg.org/4dwe1ukin/CON_HOST_W_Corsair.jpg The same occurred with Conhost for windows 7 neither of these issues occur with the old PSU. https://s12.postimg.org/urdhevui5/Link_power.jpg When I run the Corsair link it says it's running at only 150-200ish watts, and under load of a game 300watts. Which normally wouldn't bother me except my PC stats make me think it's running significantly lower than it is supposed to. (almost 1/2). My Q9550 CPU itself is rated at 95W. Couple that with 4 HDD's, fans, and R9280x (at the minimum) I would assume I should be using around 400-500watts. Soooo, Now I have a question. Is the PSU bad? OR Is the PSU just not compatible with my older parts (for whatever crazy reason) and that's the issue I'm running into? And with the new parts everything will work fine? Gray__Fox
I came back to let delete this thread but since I can't I'll just update it. I have a security program that recently had an update with a lot of issues, it updated just before I put the PSU in, the PSU was not the problem after all just pure coincidence it all happened the same day.
